For the 2015 Asian Cup Semi, the TV Audience in Japan avg was 21 million. I don't expect that high, but for the AFL fan boys more people will be watching the Socceroos who you deride than watch the previous 2-3 AFL grandfinals combined.
Once again showing how insignificant the AFL really is
It actually shows how insignificant Australia is on a global scale. But, Aussie rules is easily our number one sport despite soccers strength overseas.

No AFL isn't our number 1 sport, how can you have a number 1 sport that isn't represented Nationally.
You might think it is the Number 1 sport, but that doesn't make it so.
It might be the most watched, or might have the biggest budget or the most press, but none of them mean it is the number 1 sport.
You don't even have the most people playing it

Think it is Australia's number 1 sport ... quite comfortably actually. Agree no national side but not sure why that matters as it is a domestic game contained to our shores.

Fred, it doesn't have the most people playing it for 1.
It doesn't even have National Exposure.
Has zero international presence. I'm sorry but AFL is not Australia's National Sport, if we have one, and I am saying IF, it would be cricket

it certainly is number 1, even if it isnt the number one in every state. Figures show it is the most supported of every sport

what the fuck does international presence have to do with popularity in Australia??
On a balance of Crowds, TV audience, sponsorships, memberships, and revenue AFL is miles ahead of every other sport in Australia

Add in national reach ... can play it all over Australia . All those things together certainly make it number 1.

I follow AFL & I love watching the Socceroos play.
Its international sport that actually means something unlike both the Rugby codes that are just in denial about where they are at in the international scale of things

lol welcome Pete,
good way to enter the forum with having a go at the Rugby codes>>
The Leagues on this site, know where R.L is on the international stage.
it is popular in a few countries in the world and that is it.
Union is a lot more popular in a lot more countries than league.
and the League boys it doesn't faze us.
we are pleased. that we can have internationals against
N.Z ENGLAND SCOTTLAND IRELAND FRANCE WALES PNG AND THE PACIFC ISLAND NATIONS>>
with other nations rising year by year..
we don't act like we are massive>>
we know we have niches around the world>> and we are happy with the growth
of the great game Rugby league.

All I'm saying is I'm looking forward to the socceroos game tonight as soccer is the only really truly international game. If we make the World Cup it will be huge & very exciting! I cant really say making a World Cup in any other sport is very exciting

No you're not
You had a shot at both rugby codes .
Read what you wrote .
As an AFL follower you should not be making fun of any other sport that has an international profile .
Dickhead .

Who won. Saw the Japanese get a goal. Really bad defence by Ryan they were saying. Did the Aussies come back.
Was shown on 9 Go here and was wondering was that a nation wide thing or just in qld and nsw as rl was on? If on main channel in Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Darwin, Hobart etc (AFL cities) I wonder if it out rated the nrl game ?
