Re: Western Sydney's mass exodus from RL
Seemed a poor crowd there yesterday. Also despite the claims se game and being pies supporter found myself turning to the nrl and found that a better spectacle. Was a good game. Didn't see it all but what I did see I quite enjoyed over and above the pies game I thought.

Yep if it was a touch under half full then I have a bridge to sell .Fred wrote: Sun May 14, 2017 10:27 amSeemed a poor crowd there yesterday. Plus playing the biggest club in AFL land who always seem to bring plenty of support to interstate games .
Maybe just maybe the propaganda is being shown up for what it really is .
A team that is being given every chance ( cough rigged rigged cough cough) to win the comp playing the biggest team in the comp should have got a far bigger crowd .

Re: Western Sydney's mass exodus from RL
not sure what youre expecting. Theyre the second expansion team in one city. If you placed another NRL team in Melbourne who do you reckon would follow them? The storm have already captured all RL fans in Melbourne, just as the Swans already had AFL fans in Sydney. The Giants wont get an acceptable following for at least a decade from now. But if you want to expand you need to start somewhereAFLcrap1 wrote: Sun May 14, 2017 1:34 pmYep if it was a touch under half full then I have a bridge to sell .Fred wrote: Sun May 14, 2017 10:27 amSeemed a poor crowd there yesterday. Re: Western Sydney's mass exodus from RL
I do love this quote
"Australian rules appears to be the biggest threat to rugby league in Sydney’s west."
I would not be surprised if more people play baseball in Sydney's west than actually play AFL. As far as I can tell from the Play.AFL website there are 8 clubs??? in Western Sydney, and I mean the whole of western Sydney, from Auburn to Penrith from Rouse Hill to Liverpool
Whilst roughly the same area Baseball has 12 clubs in North West Sydney alone, with a further 7 in the Penrith Blacktown area.
So yea I bet the AFL is the biggest threat LOL. I reckon there would be more people playing Rugby League for Wenty Leagues that the whole AFL competition in western Sydney

I just had a quick look and saw this. Says greater western Sydney area so not living in the area maybe there might be some clubs that people could argue aren't in the zone ? I think just junior clubs also.

Re: Western Sydney's mass exodus from RL
Been posted many times .
The AFL mask low club numbers by quoting Auskick numbers .

Any comment on this in regard to number of teams ... are all those in the area discussed ?

Re: Western Sydney's mass exodus from RL
Lol not all fumbler fans know ..or they don't want to know
trouble is they quote these numbers & at times when making a comparison quote actual RL club registration. Numbers .
Hardly a fair comparison
But as with AFL numbers
It's all about the image .

Re: Western Sydney's mass exodus from RL
A number of them are not western Sydney, could not argue blue mountains are western sydney nor wolondilly
I didn't include Bankstown area in my search as that tends to be more inner west now
