The funny thing is businessesman John Singelton owner of Macquarie Radio (2GB) was said to be prepared to fully fund a Central Coast Bears incarnation. Yet still the NRL decided no.

Is still the best option. They would have the entire North Shore and Central Coast as a supporter base.

Yeah was a huge mistake by the NRL. Had the best colours in the comp too the Mighty Bears.

Titans to fend off Bears NRL licence bid with multi-million dollar plan from businessman Darryl Kelly

The Sunday Mail can reveal key elements of a business plan being formulated by Kelly, who says he will walk away from rugby league if a North Sydney consortium clinches the Titans licence.
Well-placed sources say a $10 million price tag will be placed on the Titans licence when the NRL formally seeks tenders for a sale in the coming months

Under plans to stave off the Bears and keep the Titans on the Gold Coast permanently, Kelly has:
■ Assembled a four-man consortium with cashed-up local investors ready to buy the Titans licence;
■ Drawn up a detailed business plan, to be tabled to NRL boss Todd Greenberg, outlining additional revenue streams for the Titans; and
■ Begun due diligence on buying investment properties, giving the Kelly consortium a financial war chest to make the Titans self-sufficient.
The NRL will seriously consider the Norths bid if there are no other contenders for the Titans licence, but Kelly is determined to table a proposal to good to refuse.

This bloke Kelly is a very good man. If he gets a consortium together I would go with him before entertaining the Bears.

but this works better for the Gold Coast / it was wishful thinking b4

It's a terrible idea .
Titans fans would not follow a club that is North Sydney .
& how many fans would travel up to the Gc to watch the majority of home games .
You would be alienating the rusted on fans who have stuck with the Tits through some very bad years in the hope of gaining some fans 100s of kms away .

& how many fans would travel up to the Gc to watch the majority of home games .
You would be alienating the rusted on fans who have stuck with the Tits through some very bad years in the hope of gaining some fans 100s of kms away .

Yeah would do more harm than good I think. The Central Coast is really their only option.

The central coast will never get a team. They're already rusted on RL people and the population is too small. There is nothing to gain by putting a team there. Any new teams will come from 2nd Brisbane, Perth or 2nd NZ.

or do you recan the NRL has left It to Manly and maybe the Roosters..

BEARS RAMP UP NEGIOATIONS

The NRL is expected to seek expressions of interest in the sale of Gold Coast as early as next week.

The Bears are ready to pounce and they may bring NRL footy back to North Sydney Oval sooner than you think.

The Bears believe they have prepared a convincing bid which they are ready to submit to the NRL.

The Bears are having a fair dinkum crack at the Titans. Can only be good if there are a number of parties wanting to buy them. North Sydney Leagues club took over the Seagulls Leagues club in Tweed Heads in 1998 so they have some presence in the area.

Bears having 2 leagues clubs and guaranteed funds ( will make it a hard choice to ignore)

I never liked the Titans Name ( Bears would be great with x 2 games at N.S )

but yes... lets see how this plays out (it is def getting louder)

It will be the end of the titans/bearson the Gold Coast if the bears take over. Locals won't see the trans as theirs.
