But i think what i wrote forms a good hypothesis dont you think?

Very good analysis Fred - might be onto something - we just DONT get the same denegrarion of other codes - most people aside from their AFL club support all other Melb clubs regardless of the code. There's just not the animosity!Fred wrote:I was thinking that maybe it is inherent in the culture of the game. Well I already got that impression from you but you still haven't answered the question - (most people from the AFL states say that RL/RU/soccer are very basic games that are very one dimensional) I know you don't like the game etc but why does it compel you to put it down and its fans - like there's a difference between being disinterested in something to outright attacking, what does it matter that others like it, you don't compete for stadium, tv coverage or other stuff so what's the problem with you just ignoring it???? That's the real question.NRL&NFLweLaughATafl wrote:I dated an chick from Adelaide who was mad on AFL. And no matter how much I tried to appreciate the game. From the extra side goals, to the netball looking uniforms. Too the stupid throwin backwards by the ref to the constant drop balls.
I enjoy other sports like Union, Football, Grid Iron, Baseball etc..
But to me AFL is a just not a real sport.
The AFL culture does not resonate with me at all either.
Is a really backwards type of game.
One dimensional yet has a lot more common sense than AFL will ever have. This is why AFL fails at international recognition.Swans4ever wrote:Well I already got that impression from you but you still haven't answered the question - (most people from the AFL states say that RL/RU/soccer are very basic games that are very one dimensional) I know you don't like the game etc but why does it compel you to put it down and its fans - like there's a difference between being disinterested in something to outright attacking, what does it matter that others like it, you don't compete for stadium, tv coverage or other stuff so what's the problem with you just ignoring it???? The Swans is the most toffee club in NSW lol.. You never see working class people following the Swans.Swans4ever wrote:Very good analysis Fred - might be onto something - we just DONT get the sameFred wrote:I was thinking that maybe it is inherent in the culture of the game. As for attacking, I think a lot of people don't like the arrogance of AFL fans. They like to put shit on every single other code more than anyone else.
They bag real football, they bag rugby codes a lot more too. And they ban other codes using their grounds.
If AFL got rid of their extra side goals and got some decent uniforms it might get a bit more respect.
I don't think there is really one particular thing I don't like about AFL, it is multiple.
Is pretty embarrassing for Australia too. Ruins the countries image.![]()
Even the people with streamers at each goal looks so funny man and the fools doing fingure signs incase you don't know what goal they kicked through.![]()
AFL is just a code that is easy to put twice as much shit on even though it is nearly always the AFL fan that starts up the code war.

I have heard multiple AFL people bag soccer. You often hear AFL people say soccer is soft yet their sport is the softest oval ball contact sport in history.Swans4ever wrote:I'll take every one of your statements one by one:NRL&NFLweLaughATafl wrote:One dimensional yet has a lot more common sense than AFL will ever have. AFL is just a code that is easy to put twice as much shit on even though it is nearly always the AFL fan that starts up the code war.
AFL is not the only sport to have varying methods of scoring - as scoring is greater in AFL the side posts help to achieve a clear result, if we just had 2 posts draws would be far more common like in RL until you started inventing was to resolve this by golden point scenarios - it's very rare to have a draw in AFL for this reason. I know you don't understand it but that in itself can be a reason for such hatred.
Things in soccer RL RU may make "more sense" to you because you grew up with them and not AFL, passing backwards to go forwards doesn't make sense, an off side rule in soccer makes no sense at all prohibits large scores and protects slow players (and therefore the inferior athlete), having a cross bar makes no sense whatsoever, the 20/40 rule makes no sense, dropping the ball to kick it is allowable but not dropping the ball in front of you (why aren't they both knock ons?). Again it's all perspective - Americans have NFL which literally looks like atheletes who need a break after every 10 seconds worth of play - to me they make no sense but to someone in the USA it makes perfect sense - again it's perspective the fact you can't get into it maybe due to having a closed mind and not willing to watch a game without comparing it to the sports your used to (which is not unusual we all do this but some are incapable of doing it less than others).
Your perception that AFL fans bag other sports maybe more confined to threads and sites like these - on tv I rearly see this yet it is an ongoing thing for RL to do it openly such as 'Beau knows'. I would look at what your sport is doing - right from the start when the Swans moved to Sydney there was open warfare against AFL, I remember the insults that were given on a daily basis by RU people because I played AF, I didn't care what they said and invited them to play in time and they did, they didn't stick with it but they didn't bag it afterwards. I played because an older brother played, but I plate soccer RU and RL as well. I live in Melb now but I don't see people insulting other codes down here particularly AFL fans for 1 they just don't care, for another thing they are more interested in putting down supporters of other clubs in the AFL. Without any particular instance you can state (apart from this site and some posters the attack is usually commenced by RL posters!). In the main I'm not suggesting your average AFL fans think positive things about other codes I just think it doesn't rate in their thinking at all. RL people are just as derogatory as AFL fans if not more so after all it wasn't us that coined GAYFL, seems pretty clear what it suggests and you even posted a YouTube about it (which implies tacit approval of the term), so again I don't think you can say your better in this regard than RL or soccer (RU doesn't usually get involved).
You accused us of starting the code war but what exactly do you mean?? Setting up GWS?? Poaching Hunt and Folau??? What because we started a club in Sydney??? How is that starting a war?? Soccer clubs have started in Melb to compete with AFL, same for RL and RU so whatever we have done so has other sports.
You say that AFL is embarrassing Australia - in what way, Europe has big problems with soccer violence, RU had apartheid in its history, RL has to be honest big problems pulling a crowd it is major competition to the extent that playing in front of empty stadiums is embarrassing (which is happening too often in the AFL now days as well!). RL seems with every passing year to be one body shape (massive) it's like weightlifters playing a contact sport and is becoming very disproportionate to average people - most people I have talked to from OS eagerly go to an AFL match and make it a point to attend to see something they don't understand - I have seen YouTubers see it for the first time again don't know what their seeing but don't react to it in the manner that embarrasses me or others - perhaps it's just your circle. I would be far more embarrassed by all the diving in soccer in comparison.
Lastly you mentioned the guy with the streamers well all codes have their idiosyncrasies, Anerican football and helmets, NRL and tape around their ears, soccer and their walking out together is strange and clapping when they miss a goal again it's perspective. Now I'm not advocating you run out buy an AFL membership and swap codes but don't you think your hatred (and that's what it is if your honest to yourself) for AFL is just insecurity in another form?
The only people who see AFL as you describe are the insecure RL posters on here, so we've gone from bagging all other sports to now some bag soccer for being soft? Seriously you have issues with perception - you suffer from a very narcacistic perception (hang on there's a theme here particular with another RL poster). You only view the world from your perception - most AFL posters here don't actually criticise RL, soccer or RU. Most don't really care, I don't care what RL gets or has it really means nothing to me. I consider it a professional sport like any other with its own unique skill sets. I PREFER AFL - your hysterical impression smakes of paranoia and inferiority. That's why you feel the need to denigrate AFL but what I want to know is what at its core - like we're you dropped on the head at birth, did you have a girl friend that was potted by someone who played AFL? Did your Ol man sit on the couch for hrs screaming at the tv drinking a beer telling you that AFL is for poofs and everything in Victoria sucks???NRL&NFLweLaughATafl wrote:I have heard multiple AFL people bag soccer. I have no insecurities of the sports I like. But I know that no matter what you do or say. I will always know AFL is too dumb for words.![]()
I told you multiple true facts of why AFL is stupid. Now if you can't accept that getting a point when you miss a goal is moronic, that is your problem. :>:: :>::
So yeah too bad dickhead, that is just the way lots people see AFL.
Suck it up princess and deal with it.
