THE high-flying GWS Giants are still struggling to draw interest from casual sports fans in Sydney. Last Saturday the Manly v Eastwood Shute Shield game on 7Two out-rated the GWS v Geelong AFL game on 7mate. The AFL game was also broadcast on Fox Footy, but it’s still not a great look.
Tsunami.

Since when is 40k + a share of the 321k watching on FoxFooty less than 38k for the Shute Shield? My god, son.

Now that is a proper derby, not your invented AFL one.
Carlton and Richmond will play in front of 80,000 at the MCG in round 1. Technically the Giants-Swans Rivalry is older than the Wanderers-Sydney derby (Giants first AFL season - 2012 - started about 6 months before the Wanderers first season - 2012-13), fucking invented lol.
Yet it was never called a derby before the Wanderers came in,

Ground configuration may slightly alter the capacity, but the Giants are anticipating a historic sell-out of more than 21,000 for a match that Giants chief executive David Matthews hopes will one day take on a State of Origin-like feel between east and west.
“We think we’re on track to beat that,” Matthews said.
“I think the rivalry builds all the time.
“We’ve got a lot of respect for the Swans and I know our boys absolutely love playing them.
“These would be the two fixtures our team would look at each year.
“You would love to think this rivalry will get as big as the State of Origin feel you get around town in rugby league over time.”
Lol
How pathetic
Trying to drum up interest by mentioning SOO ...lol
Twice
Please please look at us .

You really have deep seated issues crapper - so tell us all who will get more
Manly v Penrith at Brookvale holds 24,000
GWS v Swans at Spotless holds 21,000
Common put your opinion where your mouth is!

yeah because Derby has never been used to describe a game or rivalry ever.
You guys never used it to describe the Swans Giants game before the Wanderers arrived, good to see you AFL types are so frightened of football in western sydney that you nck our terminology.

From memory, the original Swans v Giants were called something horrible like battle of the bridges or something brain dead like that, but hey happy for you guys to borrow from us footballers the local derby, even if GWS are about as "West" as the prime minister is blue collar. LOL
