err I hate to burst your bubble but the increases in SA and WA have little if anything to do with the fact their ratings are up nationwide by millions. The increase is in total ratings so a large increase in WA and SA wouldnt make a schick of difference

Actually what the figures this year are telling us, is that previous years figures probably favoured the AFL by a fair margin since we never ran an estimated figure along side the published ones before we never really had a baseline for Victorian regionals to include. And the only reason the NRL are even close this year is due to extra games on Fox and NZ.

But yeah its all tv ratings

Never mind that AFL attendances are on average twice that of the NRL, never mind that its popularity is also reflected in sponsorships that are twice the value of the NRLs or that its tv deal is consistently rated higher than the NRLs, not to mention radio rights, and memberships or the fact that the AFL generates almost as much from non tv rights streams as it doest from tv rights.

Whats bullshit'? the NRL are up 9million and that without NZ this year. The live game instead of the delayed game accounts for half of that.

If more people are watching something, it means its more popular than the other event.
