Western Sydney isn't Rugby League Heartland. GWS started in 'Blacktown' (didn't last long after coning the council out of millions) Blacktown doesn't have a Rugby League team, they then moved to Homebush coning the government out of more money (and Canberra).

The simple fact is GWS doesn't really have a regional identity they aren't really called Greater Western Sydney Giants anymore either they are simply GWS. So how you say they are in the heartland is beyond me.

youre being disingenuous. If Sydney is anything like Melbourne there is an ever growing number of immigrants entering the city every year. Most are from Asia, Africa, India or the pacific. Soccer is the national sport for many countries in these regions so it goes without saying that they would follow the local soccer competition once here.

Most of them havent grown up with Aussie rules or RL, so they just dont follow either in the same numbers as they do soccer

They didn't con the council - when they turned up to use the oval it was roped off in the middle - it was never going to work because cricket had the priority - Blacktown is not the centre of the west in any event. Why are we going back over past duscussions??? Why people are so down on GWS is beyond me their not taking anything from your game as you play at a different time of season and use a different ground!
