Because the Suns and Lions viability is being questioned yet their average crowds and membership numbers dwarf many NRL clubs despite the AFL clubs not succeeding on the field in forever

too funny

because TV ratings dont equal an individual clubs popularity or viability. You think 400k viewers on FN are all following the one club? :(/

Lol .

Say 200 k each .

That's a lot more than what the Suns & lions get in their home town .

You fumblers tried to say that RL teams were going bad .
Funny thing is the fumble teams can't crack 100k sets of eyeballs watching in their home town .

Lol .

So youre claim is when 2 Sydney NRL teams play on FN half the audience is from one team and half from the other?

LOLOLOL

So by that logic . When the lions get 20 k watching in Brisbane .
Not all are lions fans .
Lol
That makes it even worse .
Thanks for the clarification

Well the Lions are a one city town so the chances are they are mostly lions supporters. Plus who knows how many are watching on Fox.

On a typical FN game the ratings in Melbourne for AFL or NRL for Sydney would be made up of around 80% of fans who dont support either club IMO. If you left these fans out of it the ratings would be well below 100k

Who knows .
It's been shown in the past that fox is about 1/3 of FTA.
So add another 7-8 K
Wow .

And half the population of Sydney. And on a second digital channel which usually rates about half. Brisbane has rated 30-40k on FTA for AFL this year which is like Sydney rating well over 100k, so in context their ratings arent that bad for an expansion team

It's all in the ratings Caitlan the discredited X......Man. The Suns and Lions get pathetic ratings in their home state. They mobilize all the expatriate, female and alternative life style rabble ball hangers on to go to games, zombie like. That leaves no one to watch the games on the telly in BrisVegas and the GC.

Pack 'em up and send 'em back to Bleakbourne........they deserve more rabble ball teams down there at the arse end of the world...........LOLOLOLOLOL
thats why the AFL gets more for less :thumbleft:

So your claim is any team with crowds as low as 12-13k, even though the suns are averaging 14k and the lions are averaging 17k, should fold or merge?

Are you sure you want to make that claim?

I am not making the claim, some AFL Personal are..

all depends how much AFL wants to waste on this project..
actually, one did. Do you agree with the claim? If you do thats a pretty damning assessment of many NRL clubs that draw smaller crowds and members
they never want to discuss that fact, they will just ignore it rant and rave around it!

whats funny is the lions have been backet cases for over a decade, the suns havent dowe so well yet are more popular than the gold coke titans who where almost shut down by asic with debts of $40 million plus, where kicked out for not being able to pay the rent, of their training and admin facility & were using a local school for staining & the GC city council building to run their clown show of an operation! now the NRLOL are looking to sell them off as they cannot afford to run the shit tank of a club! :)))

oh the hiporisacy of the NRLOLs oxygen bottle fan base

Brisbane has been lucky to get 20k this year on the box

and its not all about crowds and memberships for the suns,
cause half the crowd is for the other team..

Interest in the suns is very low..

BEEMED INTO QLD LIVE and struggling to rate is a worrying sign..

(to answer your question, no the lions should stay..
the suns should still stay.. be interesting how much the AFL are willing to lose
to try and make them into a powerclub

like they are doing with GWS

Hi intencity

I would disagee that there is no interest in the suns. Sure it has dropped from 2 years ago but they are always in the community and papers and talked about on radio. I would say it is on par with the titans in that regard. In fact the radio will have the suns on more so than the nrl. The local commercial station does all their home games i think and always on abc. When it is titans and suns on at same time i am not sure what the abc do there.

But from my point of view there is still plenty of interest. You see people in their jumpers, stickers on cars etc. I think they also have 13000 members? Or there abouts and crowd average is around 13 or 14 thousand. Yes, some of those are opposition supports but suns are their second team and will go other weeks their team isnt playing. I also read there are more AFL clubs (junior and senior) on the gold coast then rl clubs ..athough not sure as to the veracity of that cliam. There may even be more teams ?

though if they were as popular as the Titans or on the same level
the ratings on tv would reflect that..

I use the example of the Broncos and the Lions.
