I think that's who he was getting at over their history of the last 2 decades when AFL house went on the march aggressively hitting the northern states.

Makes as much sense of your theory.

And I agree with Parra, Sydney Swans doing well is very important to AFL.
The Brisbane Lions financial position proves how quickly an AFL club can fall from grace in Northern states if they don't win.

the point is the Broncos and storm were both owned by news and were both by far the most successful over the last decade and a half. Where as Geelong and Hawthorn have been the most successful in the AFL, and neither are large influential clubs, or expansion clubs
