your probably right.
the next few games will let you know the trend of what it will be.

The AFL games that rate well are primarily Friday night. The majority of the NRL Fri night wer'nt counted to appease Wookie and all you other But But'ers . Face it 7 of the top 10 ,we kicked your arse in the ratings. Its not hard to figure out., more viewers = greater popularity.Xman wrote:you may have individual games that rate more, because they are prime time and SOO, but more Australians watch AFL overall
going on your logic soccer and the olympics are the most popular sports in Australiapussycat wrote:The AFL games that rate well are primarily Friday night. it goes to show that ratings dont automatically show a sport's popularity. Most people would think athletics is kinda meh. But Cathy Freeman's 400m final in Sydney had an absolutely massive audience. The attraction was the event itself, the world stage, the patriotism, not the popularity of woman's athletics.pussycat wrote:: Does the Soccer get 4m watching any game in Australia or over 120m for all of there games in a year? 50 years?
We didn't have an Olympics last year but if we did we would get Gold
You didn't include the NRL's Fri Night Live matches amogst your highest rating matches. limiting us to about 20 matches in suitable time slots. But like I said we still managed to kick the AFL's arse. And yes, for the 3rd year in a row.The_Wookie wrote:im pretty sure ive counted all ratings since 2013 fuckwit.pussycat wrote:The AFL games that rate well are primarily Friday night. SOO is a standout event which has a unique tribal appeal to many a NSW and Qld patriot who usually dont care that much for RL. It's bragging rights. The ratings certainly dont indicate RL's popularity overall, otherwise you wouldnt have poor ratings like last night. In fact if you take out SOO from your top 10 the AFL had 4 of the top 7 programs last year, and that's despite the game being longer and shown later.
The Morgan polls have consistently shown that the AFL is watched by more Australians than NRL. Hardly surprising given the huge lead the AFL has in every other key indicator.
Cool, then these metro ratings only show tennis and RU are far more popular than RLpussycat wrote:Xman wrote:it goes to show that ratings dont automatically show a sport's popularity. Stop your But, But Butting there is only one area that represents popularity and that's viewers.
but but but you better get thinking for your next excuse.Intentcity wrote:Granted the NRL GF outrated the AFL GF, but the NRL GF was (from reports) an absolute nail biter, best GF ever etc etc, played in prime time (or near enough to it).
V
The AFL GF featuring a WA team (game started at 1pm in WA), the game was done and dusted by HT and it was played in a ratings dead zone.
Well done.
last night they only got 480 metro and 276 regionals, which sounds about right. Shame that even with fox you couldnt even break 900kpussycat wrote:Since when has the NRL got 600 metro viewers and just 200 regionals?
Regional would be slightly under 60%. but in all likelihood the regional figure is for Syd & Bris only and would be over 60%. Either way there a long way of the 1/3 there claiming on Sunday. when sky numbers are put in they wont be far behind last year.Xman wrote:last night they only got 480 metro and 276 regionals, which sounds about right.
