yeah somehow I dont think Fox are coming to the party on that 1.1 billion.
If they did their homework they know that they will lose a huge chunk of their subscribers if they screw over the NRL .

Interesting to see who blinks first .
Time is on our side .

Telstra will pay about $300 million of the record deal over the six years, and broadcast AFL matches over its planned Telstra TV service and to handsets and digital devices, while Seven will pay $840 million in cash and $60 million in contra.

AFL 900million over 6 years for 7

NRL 925million over 5 years for 9

Rupert Murdoch has directly intervened and pushed the value of Australian Football League broadcast rights to unprecedented heights, agreeing for News Corporation to pay about $1.3 billion of a record $2.508 billion six-year deal the league has struck.

AFL 1.3Billion over 6 years all games simulcasting

Dont get to excited guys, the NRL only has to offer a 9th game + simulcasting to get 1 billion+ over 5 years for Fox.

The digital rights for the 4 Channel 9 NRL games are non-exclusive meaning that all 8 or 9 games can be resold to a subscription service.

NRL 1.9billion + international rights for about 250million and digital rights still to come over 5 years

AFL 2.5billion over 6 years which = 2.08billion over 5 years all gone sold.

Not taking anything away from this tv deal its a really good result but

wait for the fat lady to sing....
Also add in the N.Z Tv rights

LOL, sounding desperate now. How will you fund expansion? Writing was on the wall when Dave Smith gave Channel 9 all the best games plus Origin and representative football. Don't mess with Rupert lol.

You lot are truly screwed now. :<> :<> :<>

Not desperate..

Its a massive value to your tv rights having an Extra game to your round
and 2 extra teams in markets..

I may get shot down for this.

I recan the NRL can beat the AFL Deal! Yep Beat it

* if the NRL expand with extra 2 teams adding an extra game

News limited "fox sports get 5 exclusive games plus channel 9 simulcasting games

if FOX paid 500mill for 5 games last deal

why not 5 games now plus an extra four, just to double the deal ??

also N.Z Tv rights gets a touch bigger

TELSTRA lock it in

they were almost on par with the AFL last deal

so no reason to be close again.

INTERESTING TIMES AHEAD

its going to look funny looking at the A league and Union Deals now (HAHA)

The NRL doesn't need really need much expansion. Sure maybe another qld team. And then maybe a shot at perth tho I wouldn't really bother with that old country town.

Fox paid 550million for 5 games last time.

My prediction

NRL 4 FTA games 925m - 25m a year with simulcasting = 800million

NRL Expansion perth/Brisbane 2 from Gygals own Mouth a 2nd Brisbane team worth 200m over 5 years

FOX Simulcasts 9 games compared to 5 games previous more then doubling the last Fox deal of 550million = 1.1billion over 5 years

NRL NZ Rights 100m-150m

International rights (ENG,PNG) 50m

Digital rights for 5 years 200m

NRL even at a worst case scenerio with expansion 2.25billion over 5 years

will be very close to that number.
funny if they got close to that without expansion

AFL TV DEAL

has taken a hit to the fans of SA AND WA

In Western Australia and South Australia, Foxtel and the Fox Footy Channel will exclusively broadcast live three premiership season matches for each of the teams based in those states – West Coast, Fremantle, the Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide – with those matches to be replayed on delay on free to air television.

still FTA delayed coverage in this day in age ...

Surely this deal puts to bed any doubt about what is the premier code in the nation. And having one of the most powerful men in the world publicly stating as such simply underlines it.

Lol .
You are comparing a completed deal with one that is only partially done .
God dam you fumblers are thick .

The only comparison that can be made ATM is the FTA component
The NRL wins easily .
