Rupert Murdoch got where he is by being a realist, and not living in cloud cuckoo land.
His judgement of AFL as the premium code in Australia is spot on.
AYE BRUCE
Murdoch just signed a billion dollar deal.
why would he appear in a media conference and not pump up the AFL
he just invested in them
a FOX personal will be doing the same thing when they sign a billion dollar deal for the NRL
Murdoch knows how big the NRL is
and if its 8 or 9 games Simulcast on FOX
just look at that PRICE TAG
just suxs we gotta wait for it....
My opinion The AFL still operates better in doing Tv Deals.
I dislike the way the NRL is doing there current one.

Murdoch has never appeared at one of these conferences before - Kim Williams (now an AFL Commissioner) did it for him.
You arent the only one who dislikes it. Reports have News Limited unhappy with the NRL. They have Telstra unhappy. And theres no other serious players for the rights.
Yep.
I agree with it, as soon as it was done.. not done in the proper manner.
The rights deal should be signed together and announced together.
have all parties involved.
I still think Fox will pay a good price. but not as much as it would of if it had been done properly.
Time will tell (tick tock)

Cant agree with you there. There is no reason why the rights have to be sold together. They should be sold however the seller wants to sell them.
As was said, channel 9 paid double this time (as they did previously).
Even AFL got double.
Fox's $550 was double. This time however, they can buy 8 matches not 5!

Good luck to the AFL, doesn't have fark all to do with what the NRL will get.
I keep reading doom and gloom from AFL fans about RL being crushed, quite funny. Could you tell me who has paid for what in the NRL so far?
Naaa thought not, a lot going off half cocked if you ask me.
Oh and Uncle Rupert, in Rugby League, we call this part of the negotiations the "squirrel grip" you old Clark Kent!
He'll pay up, and then some

Uncle rupee seems to be upset ,that there's no lapdog (hi Dave ...lol league can have you)who will just rollover to whatever you want .
Where RL is now compared to under gallop is a universe apart .
Smith does what's best for RL ,not what's best for news ltd .
