Compared to canberras nights in the middle of winter? You bet your arse they are. Especially when you consider chill factors. (Canberra also holds the record for the coldest temperature recorded in an australian capital city. (Lived in Victoria for 14 years before i came to adelaide - 3 of which were spent delivering the Sun, later the Herald Sun, at 4am on a weekday on my stupid BMX in the darkness around Seaford)
But you think the locals would be accustomed to and prepare for it. All I can say is when it starts raining at the "G" and the wind picks up its Very cold!!!!

Canberra colder and population more than ten times less than the population of melbs. 6k in canberra is therefore equivalent to atleast 45k in melbs.
Not bad for 0 degrees.

Canberra is basically an old country town.
6k + massive numbers watching on TV on a cold chilli 0degree evenin is fine.

Got to remember too that Canberra stadium is open, any wind would have cut thru people like .. well if you haven't lived in the area, you have no idea what you are talking about. I grew up down the federal highway not far away and I know what cold means in that area.

Why do all your posts seem like such a cry for help, always trying to justify yourself to me. Anyhow in what way does Melbourne's population distract from what was a pathetic turn out of 6000 in a so called league strong hold?

what as oppose to sydney cold?
Melbourne is freezing during the winter months and doesn't seem to affect the crowds, further down the road in geelong or in Tasmania the term cold is at new levels, they have open stadiums as well
