And they wouldn't have to change the name.

I believe the stadium in raiderdaves post Allianz Arena home of Bayern Munich, correct me if I am wrong please raider. It seats 75,000 for Bundesliga, but only 70,000 for Internationals (FIFA rules do not allow safe standing sections so the seats are locked down hence the lower capacity) But it illustrates well, why Football (and I will include RL and RU fans here) dislike ANZ so much. Raiders picture is probably middle of the second tier to the start of the third???? and look how good the view is. Same position or 3/4 tier on the side lines at ANZ the players look like Ants.

Yep
Allianz in Munich ..
& theres not a bad seat anywhere to be found in this venue ...

ANZ's ends are 30m from the tryline or goal lines for rectangle sports
& the last row of seats on the ends 60m
while the seats at the back of the top tiers on either side .. are further away from the middle of the playing field then the last row of seats in the Great Sthn stand are from the centre of the MCG
its Ridiculous
No wonder no one can be bothered attending anything at ANZ except the very biggest sporting events
Sydney deserves better
its going to get the Stadium it deserves & has been waiting for , for over a century.

wow, the world has stopped rotating on it's axis. Raiderdave and I agree on something.

The upper deck can also be covered off for smaller drawing games, be good to get the lighting that the stadium has as well, bathed in sky blue (for Sydney FC and NSW Origin) Red and Green for a bunnies game etc.

Added to that a 32-35,000 seat at Parramatta, I would be a happy Wanderer,

I know a lot of people are not happy with the More park plan but i myself don't mind it.

Why spend money on a venue (ANZ) that will always be mediocre for viewing no matter how much work you do to it, when you can build 2 new great stadiums 35k parra and 65k Moore park with a tram line from central to the stadium cutting out that terrible walk up the hill.

We need a world class rectangular stadium in Sydney and ANZ will never be world class, i hate going there for games.

I like the plan.

Oh nooooooooo.

112 years and still waiting eh Raider and co? But, but, but, Raider in particular said this new stadium was a certainty. Oh dear #-o Seems I was right about how powerful the argument put forward by Souths was to stay at ANZ along with the Centennial Park trust objecting. Malcolm Turnbull even joined in the chorus of objections. :thumbleft:

No new stadium for you. :<> :<> :<>

Perhaps you can pay for your own stadium? :_<> :_<> :_<>

Moore Park stadium plans scrubbed: State to rethink $1.3 billion strategy
Exclusive John Lehmann Editor-at-Large
The Daily Telegraph
May 08, 2015 12:00AM

PLANS to build an $800 million sports stadium at Moore Park, in Sydney’s east, have been torpedoed.

Widespread anger over the plan, revealed in The Daily Telegraph this week, has forced sport minister Stuart Ayres and the government’s stadium adviser, former Liberal leader John Brogden, to amend a report due next week.

The report will now recommend that a new super trust be created to manage major stadiums, including ANZ at Sydney Olympic Park, Allianz and the Sydney Cricket Ground at Moore Park and the major football grounds at Parramatta, Newcastle and Wollongong.

High-level sources said the amended Brogden report — which will be delayed until the end of the month — will outline different “options” for the Baird government to consider, depending on how much money is allocated to modernising Sydney’s stadiums.

The change is a blow to the high-powered Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust and NRL chief Dave Smith, who has been pushing for a new 65,000-seat stadium at Moore Park.

Mr Brogden had told the Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust last week his preferred option was to build the 65,000-seat stadium on its land between Anzac Pde and Driver Ave. He said that under his plan, Allianz would be demolished when the new stadium was completed and a smaller multi-sports venue built on that site.

Mr Ayres told several people that under this plan, no money would be spent upgrading the 83,500-seat ANZ, Sydney’s biggest stadium for major events.

But news of the plan caused outrage from the Centennial Park Trust and local residents, as well as NRL teams Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs and Souths Rabbitohs, who play home games at ANZ.

Federal minister Malcolm Turnbull, whose electorate takes in Moore Park, spoke to Mr Ayres for 30 minutes yesterday, outlining residents’ concerns over traffic congestion and a lack of planning procedures.

State Treasury officials privately expressed reservations over whether the government should spend up to $900 million at Moore Park, as well as $400 million on a new 35,000-seat stadium at Parramatta.

Football Federation Australia boss David Gallop also warned Sydney would lose major events, like the Chelsea football match next month, if it pulled funding from ANZ.

Mr Baird has consistently said since last year that only about $300 million had been allocated to modernise Allianz as part of a $600 million stadium fund. Sources maintain the Premier still believes about half of the $600 million should be spent upgrading Parramatta Stadium and improving ANZ.

can someone tell me why the SFS is considered outdated?
it was built round the same time as the Great Southern stand was at the MCG & has received updates since.
the NRL can barely fill the the SFS FFS

same goes for ANZ stadium it was built around the same time as Etihad, yet people call ANZ old & want it demolished!

its all because cities like Perth & Adelaide are getting new stadiums
the revamped Adelaide Oval, which replaced football park that was built in the early 70s
the new Perth Stadium is replacing Subiaco oval, which is a OH&S hazard waiting to happen.

those stadiums are the only major stadium in those cities as well.
unlike sydney where you have several stadiums & club grounds built with taxpayers money that no one ever goes to, yet the typical NSW insecure numpties mainly the NRL flogs are stamping their expecting a new stadiums.

just think basement dwellers? when the government cuts back on health funding & takes away the special needs nurse issued to you, to build another ghost stadium that no one will visit, how will you cope :-k

Agreed I was hoping they would revamp ANZ.
But depends if they can get it closer to the Action, which I don't think is possible
but now I think the best way to go about it, is to Bull Doze the Whole thing.
Sell it off and make it in to Apartments.

One Great Stadium like above in the City. ( transport is crucial)
and Parra Stadium Revamped.

(I do think we need one more stadium though) If this is done.
I would like a 60k stadium out west.) location unknown.
70k stadium in the city and parra stadium at 35k - 40k.
Maybe the rest of the millions which are spared can go to updating local grounds.

How about you leaguies fill your current stadiums first? Then and only then should you expect a handout from the taxpayers.

Alternatively you could pay for and build your own stadium. You got lots saved up from your bumper tv deal yeah? :(/ :(/ :(/
