I have seen it rate plenty lower than that, and being a football department release, they are always going to post the biggest one just to look good or better.

I have been following the ratings since around 2002 at various sites, i know what they rate and I know that quite a few NRL teams are way more popular on TV than Collingwood as the ratings suggest when even a team like mine with waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less FTA games can still have more people watching them at the end of the season than an AFL team that is on FTA near every bloody week.

if they loved RL the only Melbourne nrl team would have a crowd average at least as much as the lowest average AFL team. As it is the storm average almost 7k less than the lowest Melbourne AFL team, the bulldogs. Says it all really
Only 7k more with umpteen more years as an established club and with clubs like essendon, collingwood etc etc bumping their avg crowd up by atleast the 7k over the season...says ot all really

Sporting Capital of the World HUH! yeah Right.
The Australian Open would still get big crowds in QLD S.A W.A
The Formula 1 would be big in any city
Its only that Melbourne Bid over the moon to host the events.
The Cricket well, every city can fill stadiums at that.
2 rugby codes... Well Melbourne didn't have a rectangle ground until 2010
and get avg crowds..

I will give you this one though..
SPORTING CAPITAL OF AFL

Great Result if they get 90k at the game.
It is NSW v QLD after all.

try Get VIC v SA In NSW and fill the Ground...

all most more people will watch 3 games of STATE of Origin in Melbourne.( Last Year was approx. 1.2mill for 3 games)
Then people will watch the Swans on FTA in Sydney the whole season.

I know for a fact they rate around 1.6 to 1.7m every year, and showed a source. If you disagree then find sone ratings figures or stfu

Same applies for every nrl team in Sydney that have larger drawing clubs as opponents. The swans trounce every single one. In fact even the bulldogs beat almost every single nrl side in sydney under similar conditions

Of course they are. The cricket alone proves it. 90k for the boxing day test while other cities struggle to fill grounds half the size

Here's a list of the top 20 attended events since 2003 and Melbourne has 18 of them

Why do you think Melbourne has almost every sporting event? Coincidence?

And as pointed out, sokka fans are bandwagoners of the highest level, they'll go to watch teams from other countries yet they won't support their own.
