Just what I was going to say, ParraEelsNRL, and also don't forget that the Jets aren't just about Newcastle. They represent the Hunter region as a whole to the west.

Gallop says Sutherland area have amongst the biggest juniors numbers for soccer in Australia.. So a team will end up there sometime I am sure with him wanting it. More than enough people in Sydney to support a third team.
Will be interesting to see how Newcastle go when Tinkler stops funding them though.

Shire region for soccer is the largest in number for participation in the southern hemisphere, but the problem is the area as a whole has shown very little growth as a region for business and population in the last 10 years and is decreasing year on year. Even if the sharks threw a tonne of money at an a league team that went on to be successful on the pitch, its ceiling is significantly lower than that of Sydney fc(eastern suburbs, st George, north Sydney, northshore, innerwest, half of Canterbury/banks town, even the shire itself) and WSW(parra, hills, Fairfield, Richmond,Penrith,Campbelltown, liverpool, other half of Canterbury/banks town).
It be the ugly cousin of the other 2 Sydney clubs
Wollongong and even a team in Liverpool have nearly just as much in junior strength and have way more potential either in growth as population centres or as a complete separate entity than from what's already available
Liverpool to casula is the fastest growing area in the country. In 15 years it will be a financial hub on the same level as parramatta and chatswood. Its already surpassed places like bankstown, blacktown and hurstville. It would also encompass places like Campbell town in the south and as far east as padstow
Wollongong is its own city, have a big soccer following and quite frankly have a higher ceiling representing the entire south coast than the shire
Also assuming people from the shire would support a team from the gong or vice versa is ridiculous. They hate each other, ask parraeels

Pretty much. The knights will always be Newcastle's top dog but the jets are huge up there. Their support for soccer is similar to Melbourne, clear #2.
10k members for 3 straight years despite debacle after debacle. There's more of a chance of ccm folding and the jets taking over their turf than the jets ever folding. Some of our greatest socceroos came from northern NSW so no chance. They're as untouchable as a club/region as Sydney or melbourne

Fully agree, I wasnt a fan of the SW Sydney idea, but I am coming around, won't be the next expansion, but my guess the one after, especially if Badgerys gets up

Kudos. An honest and accurate quote from the other side.
