Holden Kangaroos 2014 Four Nations squad
12:01pm Tue 14th October, 2014

Sione Mata'utia was one of 10 uncapped players named in a new-look Kangaroos squad for the Four Nations.

The Australian Rugby League Commission has today selected the following players to represent the Holden Kangaroos in the Four Nations tournament.

11 players have been selected to make their Test debuts in the tournament, which begins with a double header at Suncorp Stadium on October 25.

“We have a really good blend of experience and youth,” Holden Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens said. “The positive for me is the experience that even the debutants have. We have a high proportion of State of Origin representatives and premiership winners and they all deserve to wear the jumper.”

I don't know why it matters if they are the Holden Kangaroos. Holden is an Iconic Aussie brand.

Sorry Wookie but I agree with Raider, these are recent releases since the game has actually had some money and a sponsor which also sponsors the SOO. In all my years of watching Rugby League, the only time I can remember anyone calling them anything to do with a sponsor was once or twice about 3 years ago when someone called them the VB Kangaroos, iirc, there was a bit of heat about that too.

You often hear names like Qantas Wallabies-Socceroos-whatever, usually when it comes to the RL team, they just say the Kangaroos.

I can see it changing big time tho like the other two mentioned above and I don't particularly like it. The Kangaroo is an iconic Australian animal, probably the most known out of the lot, we don't need need a sponsors name in front of it mentioned each time someone says Kangaroo, you automatically know where the team is from anyway.

But in saying that, if the game wants the money, I guess they'll have to bend over to receive said money.

This is the point. I know some people who won't call ANZ by it's naming rights name. I've heard some lame AFL fans call AAMI Park "Bubble Park". Sometimes that pisses me off so much I try to think of some derogatory reply for the MCG, but I can't. (Any ideas, NRL fans?)

In the media, the naming rights name is always used. That includes the Holden Kangaroos. I use the term, but only because I want to avoid getting them confused with the North Melbourne Kangaroos in casual conversation.

Hope I didn't forget anyone fooledproved, do they play in Tasmania yet?

Bahaha, only a warped troll would try and spin it saying he differentiates between North Mel and the Australian National Rugby League Kangaroos that way with sponsors names, can you tell me, do you use kangaroo everytime you talk about North Melbourne or use their sponsors name?

No you don't, I have never ever seen it and no body else has because it it a myth you scribbled up to worm your way out again being a useless lying pest that only god knows why you do it.

Where have you used north Melbourne's sponsors to represent them over the Australian Kangaroos and where have you ever used Holden outside this thread in regards to our national rugby league side outside of mentioning who their sponsor is for whatever other reason you were lying about at that time?

Nowhere, that's where.

Because I mix with fans of both sports, it is important that I create a difference. If I'm talking about North Melbourne to an NRL fan and say "Kangaroos" they could mistake it for me talking about the national rugby league team. Likewise, if I'm talking about the national rugby league team to an AFL fan and I say "Kangaroos" the same problem the other way arises. So I say "North Melbourne". The national rugby league team have no other name than "Kangaroos" so I have to add "Holden" to the front. North Melbourne AFIAK don't have a sponsored name. None of the AFL teams do. None of the NRL teams do either.

It of course depends on the conversation. If I'm talking to an NRL fan about rugby league - I'll say just Kangaroos and no problem. It's the same again with an AFL conversation with an AFL fan.

Actually makes perfect sense, I do it all the time between football with football people and call it soccer when I talk to AFL people. Most people in Victoria if you said Kangaroos would assume North melbourne
