Sports Minster Andrew Barr has stood by the ACT government's financial support of the Canberra Raiders, despite revelations of the financial muscle behind the NRL club.

The territory government provides the rugby league strugglers with $1.4 million in appearance fees each year and $500,000 in payroll tax concessions.

I'm actually surprised that the AFL isn't kicking up a massive stink and beating down the door of Blacktown City Council for this allowance. Well I guess it shows that they don't see soccer as a threat. I think they should do a massive rethink on that while the Giants are still toddlers in the Sydney market. Up to them of course. Should be interesting to watch what happens.
