They'd be stupid not to. Theres no way they wont. having a summer sport is crucial to being able to deliver better returns to the clubs. The AFL would be absolutely negligent not to allow cricket to use it/
true, and a extra money spinner for the AFL. but to what extent, will the AFL allow cricket & other events. the last few months Etihad has hosted, jehovah's witnesses conference, a darts tournament & a motocross event as well as other concerts. the damage to the surface could become a concern

Probably the only type of comp they could have is a a State of origin between Vic, S.A and W.A.

The AFL have a history of being precious about the condition of the surface. Once they get ownership they'll spend a full summer fixing it up and not let anyone on it. You do know about the history of the surface at Etihad don't you?

The way the surface is at the moment, they have to fix it. Otherwise it will become a big threat to the AFL should someone get injured because of the surface and sue. To properly fix it, they have to take the venue out of commission for months. October to March the first summer they own it. If they don't fix it that would be equally negligent, if not more so.

Surface problems were mostly resolved before last season. The only surface problems that occured this season were due to concerts held at the wrong time. That wont happen when the AFL take over.
I am unable to find anything to confirm this. Would you mind? Last I read the surface was as bad as ever.

NSW, QLD and Tasmania just would not be competitive against the other states if they had an AFL state of origin, so would be pointless them being in it. Go bang your head against the wall again, it might help you ](*,)

Man that is years ago though. The talent pool from the 3 big Southern AFL states would be a million miles ahead of the rest these days. But I do think an off season state of origin for AFL in whatever form would do very well.

Yes I am telling you they can, because things have got better in NSW since 1990. In 1990 if you remember the Swans were in trouble and on a slippery slide. Look at them now.

But most of Swans players are not originally from NSW. They a fielding a top team with players mostly from AFL states.
