Billy slater is probably/arguably one of the best players in the nrl. The guys a supreme athlete.

To say there is no skill in AFL is just stupid. Same as to say none in nrl.

I can see where daves coming from. On tv the sport looks pretty ordinary. Messy, like an unkempt pack of school girls randomly paddling and punting a ball around, generally until it goes out and some scrawny bald dude in hoiks it up in the air for the long haired girls to chase it around again.

Alternatively think of a bunch of scantily clad women scrambling for the bouquet at a wedding whenever you see the ball up from the sideline...I think that's prob where original concept for the ball up came from.

So yeah I can see where dave is coming from. It looks somewhat more structured at the game but still quite messy for atleast half of the event.

In comparison RL is highly structured and organised and much better viewing on tele.

keep ignoring the michael cant play AFL hunt & israel was a failure, but flopped at AFL level, both couldn't get games wooden spoon winning sides

Yep - AFL players have to play a good 40 min longer than RL players - you only have to look at the bulldogs - I have never seen soooooo many fat people playing a sport in all my life - everyone with a beer gut - every time they were tackled a large flab hit the ground with a shudder - I think I even saw a trainer dash out when they wanted a drink with a meat pie and a beer!!!! It was absolutely embarrassing - the skill level to play was the ability to run ten meters and see who could put their arms around an elephant sized waist - geez even their football is the size of a beach ball so it's easier to hand ball!

So as I was saying the code of marngrook can look girly and unkempt. The ball in for example emanated from the wedding bouquet catching tradition.

Scoring a higher ranking than several players who'd practised this unkempt disorderly game all their lives. Additionally a team of rugby league high school players with no experience in marngrook thumped the pants (short pants) off an all AFL school boys team in south east qld. When I played marngrook I picked it up in a flash and in my first season was getting best on grounds

We cant hide from this lack of talent required for marngrook. It's just there for all to see...in comparison to RL that is which is a really high standard of skill speed and talent so the AFL boys shouldn't feel too bad.
