Newsflash!!!
Ladies and gentlemen, members and guests...I can confirm that last night I spoke with a very angry Beaussie. He had spoken with AFL ticketing operators at length in what he described as a very tense and emotional discussion. He and many other online swans members had picked up on the AFLs backflip on ticketing prices. Apparently sales have been disastrous and ticketing prices have dropped by 400odd% i.e. category 1 tickets were $170. Now? Just $45. Beaussie was absolutely ropable that he and other loyal swans members had spent their hard earned when johnny come latelies are almost getting handouts.
He attacked the lady on the other line in Melbourne saying "You don't understand what its like in Sydney" to which she apparently replied "well tickets in Melbourne have been selling at those prices" to which beaussie responded "this isn't Melbourne! We are in direct competition with RL, there's a game on the same night, don't you understand!!" At this point beaussie sounded at the point of tears so I refrained from laughing... But he went on to say that the woman on the phone said after speaking with her manger "please, don't put this on social media". to which beaussie replied he was going to and he told me that this should be a big story in the papers today as the folk at red and white onlione were also furious and organising media attention.
My analysis? No they don't understand, the AFL folk in Melbourne and on this site are as raiderdave describes them, brainwashed merinos. Nothing more, nothing less. Beaussie will never admit it but he knows damn well that RL dominates this city and that the AFL will forever play second, third and fourth fiddle.
Members I think what we got here is another mammoth AFL fukkup. They've dissed their members because they stupidly thought sydneysiders gave that much of a crap about the game to pay big $$. Sorry, the majority of the supporters here, as I've said, don't know the rules nor strategy of the game and are only there to drink chardonnay and so they can tell their colleagues at work on Monday that they actually got off their arses and did something on the weekend. Stay tuned for more folks, and pleasem please, share this story widely through your social media networks. The AFL needs to learn its place
