We are sorry but Spambot is experiencing some technical difficulties & will be back shortly.The_Wookie wrote:Aami Stadium is not being bulldozed. Football Park is being pared right back and won't be able to host games. The stands are being bulldozed in much the same way they were at Waverley. Ireland is cool and the conditions suit so that's not a factor, along with the fact that it's just one team compared to at least two. Extended benches and shortened quarters don't work. Playing at night makes no difference either. Cricket is a summer sport so don't make the comparison. It's nowhere near as physically draining as footy.The_Wookie wrote:The clubs allow their players to travel to ireland for a meaningless 2 game series every other year. Further, if we can play all day cricket in October in Perth we can play football especially with extended benches and shortened quarters AND AT NIGHT. Adelaide Oval may not be available, but Football Park will be around long into the future too, and the league always has Docklands.TLPG wrote:No we can't. Adelaide Oval is off limits because of the cricket, and October in Perth is too warm. I agree that it has to be three - that's what killed it previously. WA felt snubbed and no one was listening.
No one will want to play in October or November. The clubs won't allow it.
GLADLY!The_Wookie wrote:Its NEVER been on the cards. At no point has the SANFL indicated it will bulldoze the stands at football park until well into the future. Its only subjective if you ignore the SANFLs own opinion on the matter. Again, delighted to be proven wrong.TLPG wrote:I rather think the increased crowds at Adelaide Oval would have brought on the bulldozing I mentioned. It was always on the cards. West Lakes is prime land for property development and the more the merrier for the SANFL - especially now that the Crows and the Power are no longer their responsibility. But I'm not going to argue on that point because it's really subjective.
The_Wookie wrote:Geez I hope the SACA are ok with drop in pitches...they've been using them since last summer - and the MCG has been using drop in pitches for over 20 years.TLPG wrote:You seriously think the SACA will go with drop in pitches? The MCC have already been having problems with that. It's bad for the surface.
Look, the bottom line is this. Even in the off season, State of Origin will not draw. It won't work. AFL fans want club competition, the clubs want it as well so they can control it. It wouldn't surprise me if they did a secret jig once the IR series is dropped because they never liked it for similar reasons. Players deserve October off, especially those that played in finals. By November it will be too hot to play a game of football at elite level no matter what time it is.
BTW NRLC, the SANFL GF this year is in September. They've pulled it back because they don't have the bye anymore.

etc etc
And continue to ignore the fact that every International Rules series has been played in October or November - even in Perth since its inception. If we can do IR, we can do the proper game.
You are chucking wishes around willy nilly without really understanding the situation. I know more about the game than you'll ever know. You can't counter this knowledge and to try is sheer ignorance. Football Park is not available for anything other than SANFL and Crows training as the capacity is reduced before 2020 through the bulldozing that you claim won't even start before 2020. You are wrong and you should have the guts to admit it.The_Wookie wrote:We can. The two games are fucking close enough that we made a hybrid series ffs. You can stick your figners in your ears and scream all you like but you've been wrong all through this thread - see Aami stadium availability, post season IR match timing and drop in pitches. Ffs why would i even bother to read anything you say since its clear you make stuff up.
