It must kill you that this 'lop-sided competition' pummels you in terms of crowds and revenue.
Last weekend there were 4 upsets (Brisbane, North, Carlton, Port) and 3 games won by less than 10 points.
When I talk to leaguies in my office, the topic of unpredictable results is invariably coupled with the issue of 'insane umpiring decisions deciding matches.' Perhaps the AFL might have more upset wins if play was allowed to continue after the siren

Wow. There's some links here which ive not seen before. Thanks pussycat. Having played in the Sydney AFL league I can concur that its also ridiculously lopsided there too. I never thought of it like this and wonder what on earth the problems are at grass roots level?
Is it this way in melbs folks?

I just looked at the last link and using junior football to demonstrate this point is not acceptable. There are many instances where junior numbers are down as was the case there with one team only managing 15 that week. It would happen in junior rugby league as well.

I think having a comp where it is unknown who could win each week is a sign of the low standard of the comp. I would hate to have all teams be like north Melbourne and not know which North was going to turn up.
