Collingwood having a good membership everywhere is as relevant as rl clubs not having memberships everywhere.
What is relevant is that GWS has good membership in the region they play and represent.

Who are the 'steelers" ?

It's easy to travel from Canberra to ANZ. What's your point ?

As it is a merged club that is most certainly relevant.
However GWS is not a merged club it represents the area WS to Canberra from the very beginning.
In AFL it is not unusual for clubs to represent very large regions e.g. Brisbane, GC, Perth, Fremantle, Adelaide, Geelong and WB.

Well if most players are resident "here" then they are absent from "there".
Well I live in the Illawarra, I get the local news here every night and every night during the sports report the Dragons are usually first on their agenda, all the major Radio stations back the Dragons to the hilt as well. A hellava lot of shops in all different suburbs will have a Dragons sticker or Flag in their shop window and the same with cars esp around ANZAC day and when they make the GF.

It's not as strong support wise as it was in regards to when it was purely the Steelers, but the Coal cup (local comp) and the Cutters (Illawarra team playing in one of the big Sydney comps) are doing very well, so yeah, the Dragons would indeed be the illawarras local team.

The Brand should only get stronger in the future.

They do have canberra printed clearly on the back of the jumpers - like Sydney Swans recognise South Melb with SMFC on the back of their jumpers - Lions have FFC/BBFC on there's - so what's the difference - it looks like you take a position to support you stance and then discount when it applies to AFL!!

What don't you get, the majority of the Dragons live in the illawarra, they train here most of the time, this is their base.

I'm afriad they don't, Cos. It's the same number. Three. I checked.

But check this out, Crack-it-up. The Giants have a good sized membership in Canberra! How about that huh?

The supporters of the Steelers follow the Dragons. It is easy to travel from Wollongong to Kogarah. As it is a merged club that is most certainly relevant.
Prove that crowd averages have gone up on the merger and I'll believe that last part!

Incorrect. Tell me, which club in Canberra did the Giants become like South Melbourne became Sydney? Or who did the Giants take over to gain a Canberra presence like Brisbane took over Fitzroy?

The Giants have no relevant connection to Canberra. The Dragons have a strong connection with Wollongong and the Illawarra, via the merger.

As both clubs prior to merger had about 11k average - which means they should be averaging 22k plus but aren't - so I guess that's a fail Parra - bump!!!

That's what I was thinking as well, Swans! Should be at least 19k based on the last season average!

Precisely, AFLcrap1.

Cos789 should be required to provide proof of his claim or it should be deleted. How were Canberra a part of the "original set up"?
