So you can't answer the above question? I'd stop the celebrations until you find out.

Out of interest, how did their total revenues compare?
Figures released yesterday show the AFL turned a profit of $6.7 million in 2012 and enjoyed record revenues of $425 million. It was a return to the black for the league after recording a lost of $23.6 million in 2011.

About $290 million was distributed among the 18 clubs.

Surplus/(Deficit)
2003-4.665m
2004-1.692m
2005-1.728m
2006-2.151m
2007-5.222m
2008-2.368m
2009-(7.526)m
2010-(10.632)m
2011-(43.255)m
2012-6.700m

Your expenditure on clubs is massive ie Suns, G WS, Lions, port porpaliade, are all loosing money hand over fist and having the AFL bail them out every year.
Around 15 NRL clubs lose money every year and rely on the NRL to bail them. At least the AFL have more than one wealthy club. We'd have about 10 that are doing very well
the clubs receive hand outs off the NRL,that's after the Rugby club pinches every last cent out of the poke filled leagues club

Well it's pretty clear from this article the NRLs profit excludes their growth or sustainability funding of 200m over the next 4 years. When these are taken in to account they have little if any profit.

They also earned 314m in 2013, while AFL earned well over 400m in 2012.

:thumbleft:

Its a fairy straight forward concept. Even the most primitive of Buttkissers should be able to understand it.

NRL profit for 2013 = $50m.

AFL profit for 2013 = $7m

Highest TV ratings

1. NRL
2. NRL
3. NRL
4. AFL
5. NRL

enjoy that silv :drunk: :\: :\: :\: er
lol

No real profit. What they announced was a surplus prior to any expansion or future costings. The AFLs 2012 profit was 7m after these costings. Plus they had a far far bigger revenue pool overall.

So let's rate all indicators:
AFL won: biggest crowd, highest crowd average, GF TV ratings, highest rating PTV program, most members, most revenue

NRL won.......hmmm, nothing

hmmmmmm

no
we won the most important indicator
NRL won most profit dickhead
by a fucking mile too :\: :\: :\: :\: :\: :\: :\: :\: :\:

Sorry Dave but the AFL haven't announced their profit/loss for 2013 - the AFL announced last year that they had 6.7 Mil profit for 2012 - while having a projected 144 mil in a futures fund by 2017 - with 56 mil in the fund in 2011 - so again what was the profit for the NRL in 2012 and what was there future fund at then?

& still be 30 Million ahead of your bumbling sport for profits :_<> :_<> :_<> :_<> :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/

its not a contest folks

the VFL is weighed down
a mill stone of failing clubs it has to continually prop up

the NRL has no such issues
& is killing the VFL in terms of profits after just 1 year of its new broadcast deal

love the 60 million dollar turn around in ONE YEAR under smith.

this guy is a godsend, finally him and greenberg are some actually bloody businessmen not the stupid boys club we've had going on for 100 odd years. RL is going to explode over the next decade, being managed well down here and things looking decent up north too with crowds up after the RLWC.

Caused by cutbacks, Fyiar! When they start spending again watch that profit disappear, and with no future fund they'll have nothing to fall back on!!

So again if he had NOTHING to do with the tv rights - the 49.6 mil profit is after their 1st year of that new tv contract - what has Smith actually done? Hear a lot of RL people whinging about the shoulder charge being banned under his admin - but aside from that WHAT HAS HE DONE? Nothing but make grand speeches about overtaking the AFL with VERY rubbery figures - reminds me a lot of Dave Gallop, I remember he said the A League would be number 1 too! Maybe it's what people do when they are exposed to NRL Admin!
