Gold Coast veteran Campbell Brown is being investigated over a clash which left AFL teammate Steven May with a suspected fractured jaw.

The Suns said in a statement that no other player was involved in the incident, which occurred in Los Angeles earlier this week, and they are still investigating.

Brown, a 2008 Hawthorn premiership player, has been with the Suns since their inaugural 2011 season.

The Suns said the incident took place after the completion of a club training camp in Arizona.

AFL star Nathan Bock has admitted slapping his girlfriend and throwing beer in her face during a drunken altercation at an Adelaide hotel.

The Adelaide Crows club champion caused "considerable pain" to his girlfriend during the alcohol-fuelled incident, the Adelaide Magistrates Court has heard.

Bock, named in the AFL's All Australian team last year, on Friday pleaded guilty to assaulting his girlfriend at a city hotel in April this year.

He also pleaded guilty to property damage, with the court hearing he ripped his girlfriend's handbag and damaged her bracelet and mobile phone in the incident.

Bock was placed on a 12-month, $200 good behaviour bond by Magistrate Joanne Tracey, who did not record a conviction for the 26-year-old.

"I am relieved the matter has been dealt with by the courts," Bock said outside the court.

"I regret the situation ever happening and have put steps in place to make sure it never happens again."

Bock was held by police in a city jail cell for between five and six hours after being arrested in the early hours of April 5, the court heard.

Police prosecutor Senior Sergeant Bruce Faerhmann said Bock was too drunk to be interviewed by police at the time.

The court heard Bock and his girlfriend, Carlie Matthews, started arguing after another woman "showed some interest" in the Crows star.

Ms Matthews slapped Bock on an arm and he responded by tightly grabbing her by both arms causing her "discomfort and pain", Sen Sgt Faerhmann said.

Bock was then told to leave the hotel but threw a near-full glass of beer into Ms Matthews' face, abused her and "slapped her twice to the left side of her face, causing considerable pain", Sen Sgt Faerhmann said.

Bock left the hotel and had walked 80 metres when the couple again clashed, with Bock abusing Ms Matthews before pulling at her handbag - ruining the bag, a bracelet and damaging a mobile phone. The total damage was estimated at $2,500.

Bock's lawyer, Stephen White, said the footballer admitted to the events.

"What my client did was wrong but in the context these are not serious assaults," he said.

"(He) is a responsible and committed individual and he is very mindful that he is a role model to younger people and he regrets his conduct."

Being held in a jail cell for several hours was "a degree of summary justice", Mr White said, arguing no conviction should be recorded.

Ms Tracey agreed but told Bock he had "jeopardised the high regard in which you were held".

"While satisfied you are unlikely to offend in this way again, your offending can in no way be described as trifling," she said.

Bock's court appearance coincided with Adelaide's final training session ahead of their home fixture against the Sydney Swans on Saturday. Bock will still be playing.

The Crows suspended Bock for one game and fined him $5,000 in the days following the incident. Bock and Ms Matthews have since been reconciled.
