And again, you AFL supporters invalidate any stat i provide that supports nrl. dunno why i even bother.
No one is doubting the support RL has in NSW and QLD - the point is Soccer has massive support in these areas and is easily number 2 - but in ALL the Sth states RL has very little presence and would have to be regarded as last in the code interest stakes - Soccer however maintains its position in those states as number 2 - IMO even RU passes RL in those states as there are well established junior and senior leagues - RL even in VIC has a very minor embryo status in comparison. Although AFL is easily last in NSW/QLD it has a much more well established junior and senior competitions again compared to RL in the Sth states. RL has a lot of work to address this which in addition to making it a realistic alternative to AF and Soccer but even expansion teams - something that many RL posters on this forum say they don't need. That's the point of the post.

oh good lord what a dribbler
tell me
how many basketball games in Victoria have drawn 56,000 sellouts
how many have attracted
903,000 viewers on TV in Melbourne alone & well over 1 Million in the state
does the basketball get 415K veiwers in Melb on TV for its GF with no Victorian side playing
your bumbling crap sport can't even get numbers like that in NSW & its been on prime time TV for 30 years longer up here

I thought we were talking about football codes not basketball - what was the tv ratings for Vic this year - if there is a considerable drop then were not talking about due hard RL fans in Vic but people supporting a team from Vic - same as Melb V and Melb Heart.

I didn't bring basketball into dickhead
one of your fumbler twat mates did
& the 4 biggest RL games in Vic attracted 1.8 million veiwers in 2013 with not a Victorian in sight
only slightly less then 2012 's 2 million with the Storm in the GF
suck on that
RL is smashing your abortion of a sport in comparable ratings in NSW
just think how the ratings would be if we'd been around on TV for as long as the Pink Poofs have in Sydney

It is . There is a much bigger participation in basketball at all levels. Soccer also leaves nrl for dead. I would say as many people would talk about basketball as they would nrl .

They are airing the basketball on SEN - they don't do that with the NRL - could be bigger!

Well in victoria, probably. I wouldn't know who won AFL either like most in NSW. I think it was either collingwood or...some perth team. not sure which teams are perth ones though, freemantle is one i think.

The difference is, in Victoria rl participation is very low. Most other sports would be bigger. Soccer obviously, but baseball, hockey, basketball, tennis ... Basically think of any main stream sport, would be bigger and could be played at a senior or junior level across the whole state with leagues on each region, area. Rl however has very little representation with there being one leauge of a few clubs covering Melbourne Metro and Geelong ... A very large geographical area. Whereas you look at AFL in Sydney alone and they have 5 leagues alone. That is where the difference is I think. Is it the main game, no way by a long shot; does it have a good presence across grass roots and a niche market .. Definitely. Storm too have a niche market in Victoria but the grass roots presence of rl is so small, that it is well down the pecking order and really not even in the minor sports category. You want go driving around Melbourne seeing junior rl being played too much or even casually in a park . I had never seen it. Soccer ... All the time, AFL obviously, basketball all the time, tennis .. Yep. Whereas you drive around the Gold Coast and you see AFL ovals everywhere, AFL posts in a lot of schools ... And also hybrid posts of league and AFL.. People playing AFL and union/league in parks beaches etc.
