deary me dave yet another false alarm.
Predicted $40 million only and you haven't subtracted future fund or bailouts.
At least 14 nrl clubs made a loss and will require bailouts.
it seems the nrl can't even afford proper accountants.

ahh no, only you have made that claim. The article wouldn't because the author knows that the NRLs profit hasnt even funded their investments or futures funds yet

Dave, how much will it cost to send the team to the UK for the World Cup? Did they take that into account?
Xman do you have a link or a headline at least for this recent article you're talking about?

"Smith told Financial Review Sunday he was pleased with the financial result, with much of the money of which will be put towards a future fund to invest in rugby league."
So its not actually profit because they haven't funded their future fund

I'm not sure how you can work out your profit for a year when the year still has three months to go ?

this guy is as delutional as Raiderdave!
Smith said the NRL would achieve a “substantial” profit on its finals series, which moves to the preliminary final stage next weekend.
“We have the top two teams in the competition and both teams have had good crowds. The quality of the football has been very good both in the home and away season and the first weeks of the finals. The way we have planned and marketed the matches and our ticketing strategy all means we will substantially beat our budget.”
declining ratings, discounted tickets, playing in front of empty stadiums

all this and the NRL claim they will make a substantial profit

That adds credence to the comments by Thurstons over this conspiracy theory!
MATCH FIXING!!!!
Phelpsy, financial reports are for the financial year and not the calendar year.
Thanks, Xman. So it means that when the AFL model is applied, the NRL managed to break even. But they'll need to spend their future fund to bail out the basketcases like Parramatta!
