AFL is the national sport od Nauru, a popular sport in RSA, PNG, NZ, Canada and is played in more countries than a Northern English game.
Not bad for the Australian game up against a game spread on the backs of an English Empire.

Haha bs. AFL is nothing in South Africa, but if that helps you sleep at night, go ahead matey. Funny, a sport only popular in parts of Australia thinks its bigger overseas then a game that has a World Cup, several tournaments, and international teams. Canada: ice hockey. RSA: rugby union and cricket. NZ: rugby, rugby league and cricket. PNG: rugby league. Did you know port moresby put a bid for a rugby league team? And if you consider Nauru, a "country" without a capital city, in the middle of a pacific that's just an Island the size of a suburb that's just an old mine a AFL country, go ahead

Cuzzy will get to watch every Rugby League World Cup game live on 7mate in a few months, he can give us a run down on the crowds and TV ratings from all over the joint, I bet he's looking forward to it :)))

Should be good, they've already sold between 260,000-300,000 tickets with a few months to go.

Cuzzy should get very exited when he watches the first match with Australia playing in it, that's being played in Wales and already near 50,000 tickets have been sold.

Can't wait.

Then why isn't it on channel 7 instead of one of their new Minnow channels? Explain that

Explain what?
Channel7 is extremely happy with it's ratings for AFL.
Channel9 is not so happy with it's ratings for nrl.

Channel 9 ratings for the one and only live game the NRL gets on FTA TV each week are actually up.

The Delayed games one of which is late at night obviously don't rate as well and the people are sending ch 9 a message, but as usual they don't listen.

Oh they're listening alright! They're POed that the sport they relied upon for a ratings boost is letting them down which is why it's where it is as a result!
