the National Rugby League will increase to 18 teams in 2018

new sides entering will be the Brisbane Bombers playing out of Suncorp
& the West Coast Pirates playing out of Perth's NIB stadium
several post season tests V NZ will be played in perth .. at Subiaco though in October as well prior to the Pirates entry

Perth provides many more live opportunities where TV coverage is concerned
while a 2nd Brisbane side means they'll share the Friday night games with the Broncs into QLD between them

the NRL will garner the largest media rights deal in Australian sporting history in 2018
leaving the VFL for dead next time round
much of this money will be pumped into the pirates & grass roots development of the game in WA
the goal is for that 3200 playing number to double by 2018

the Pirates will have 15K members in year one
& average over 15K in their first year ......
they WILL compete for a spot in the finals .... in their first year
wow
folks
just wow ..... =D> =D> =D> =D>
Pretty brave predictions GiantsRD - tell me one RL that has achieved all those goals in it's 1st year (isn't this precisely what he accuses the AFL of trying to do with GC and GWS by manipulating the draw and draft concessions?). Hypocrite!

Not so - haven't heard of ANY legal decisions on that issue - the question will be how closely branded they are with that name - seeing their bid launch they are too close to Essendon's brand (do you remember Brisbane Lions - they had to change their name after the merger as the AFL had 1st use - same deal here!) call them Brisbane biplanes that would represent RL perfectly - 60 yrs behind today going at a slow pace and liable to break up if it goes into a step dive!

That was Brisbane Lions A-League side!

I correct myself. The AFL own the name, not Essendon.

more mindless shit Raiderdave,
for the NRL to set up a new team in Perth will be as successful, would be about as stupid as the AFL to set up a new team in NZ
the union is successful with the the large population of ex South Africans & kiwis, little people give a shit about league over there, due to the fact its a boring product.
if the NRL had any leadership or brains, more games would be played there to at least try and grow the popularity of the game.
