the majority people that watch the State of origin are bandwagon fans that only have interest in it as its the state vs state concept & its an excuse to meet up with mates and get pissed & turn up to work the following day with a hang over. the majority people have no interst in the NRL, tv & crowd figures support this.

the AFL had state of origin years ago but scrapped it due to lack of interest, the big clubs the Collingwoods, Essendons, Carltons Hawthorns, West Coast, Adeliade, have built up a competitive tradition's of hating one another that there is no need or intensest for the AFL to have the state or origin

Last year's prelim final between Sydney and Collingwood the tickets cost literally TWICE as much as the corresponding nRL prelim at the same ground the following night. The nRL may have had 13k more people attend but the AFL made WAAAAAAAAAAAAY more money, which according to your above logic, is a more accurate measure of pulling power.
