http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/201 ... 456772.htm"What I do know is that in all my dealings with Matt Rendell, I have never seen it (racism)," McLeod said in a statement on Saturday.
"I will be as keen as anyone to hear him explain his side of the story."
McLeod, considered among the greatest Adelaide players, said it was an understatement that he was disappointed with the controversy.
"Quite simply, I am very shattered that my football club has been questioned over its attitude to not recruit Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island players if they have two black parents," he said.
"If this was the case and I had an inkling that my club was racist, I wouldn't have spent 16 years in that establishment.
Ahhhh yes and here Xman unawaredly highlights his own ignorance as well as that of the gumby AFL ex employee who made the comment. This single comment effectively reifies Indigenous culture i.e puts all Indigenous Australians in the one box, simplifying a complex situation. Do all Indigenous players face this ''plight"' he highlighted Xman? This reifying dumbass comment was most prominent and destructive during the 200 years after Australia was colonised, but its still prevalent today as we can see. It''s a comment which effectively isolates Indigenous people to being ''difficult''/''the issue'' rather than reflecting on the contraints of one's own culture on the original and still owners of the turf marngrook is played upon. And thus, its ignorant of Xman to make and support the above comment. And when one has the hide to refer to "'one white parent"', in a country where this was basically the premise for the most disgraceful, destructive and shameful policies this country has ever made, well its simply racist. So well done the AFL for booting that chump. They shouldnt have employed him in the first place but nothings perfect.Xman wrote:He highlighted the plight indigenous players face when changing location, professional expectation and alien culture.
Xman do you know that part of the justification for the racist Aboriginal "protection" policy was that it supposedly had intentions to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples? Lil more thinking before posting needed from you young manXman wrote:In fact his comments are to be applauded given they actually intend to support indigenous players.

His context was that it could become an issue in the future if not addressed. If he believed it why did Adelaide regularly recruit indigenous players while he was a recruiter there?Striker wrote:Rendell wasn't misquoted, X! He said what he said! His cheap excuse was context and I don't accept it. Neither should anyone else with a skerrit of sense!
I trust mcleods opinion of his club over yoursStriker wrote:Because I'll bet he had no say in the final decision of who to recruit.

Others from large metropolitan cities.
As I said, McLeod loved his club and saw not a trace of racism. Others who know Rendell agree.
Because Rendell works at the clubKing-Eliagh wrote:He's talking about the club. He states that clearly in his statement atleast three times. Where does he try and get that mug who made the comment off the hook? Oh Xman, when will you live my signature down? I suggest you read more and think more young man
Well derrrr. Read McClouds comments again and use your noggin for cryin out loud. Ok I'll help you out and do the thinking for you. McCloud is disappointed that his "Club" came into disrepute because of Rendells ignorance. He made not one comment to defend rendell, or the comments rendell made. Now why wouldnt he do that ...Xman wrote:Because Rendell works at the clubKing-Eliagh wrote:He's talking about the club. He states that clearly in his statement atleast three times.
