Hey X you dummy, the Swans weren't created from scratch! The Bears started on the Gold Coast and they moved to Brisbane to save their own necks!
Back to the drawing board with you......

But both had very humble beginnings. Look at the now. If the AFL said "oh well, thats a fail" these great clubs wouldn't be here today. The suns and giants need time and some on field success.

no one gives a rats crap about it in one half of our nation

So what you are saying is that someone who spent most of his life in Qld, with lots of connections there, who lives in Melbourne, plays every second week in NSW and has an intricate knowledge and involvement in how Aussie sport works has no idea. While some fanatic from Canberra who only watches one sport, doesnt even know that the NBL is not an American baseball league and spends his time all day on the internet has more of a clue.

The AFL beat the NRL for national ratings easily.
The fact that the NRL play in two countries doesn't make them national in either
Cameron smith, an NRL player, said it. Argue with him

Douche, he noticed how dominant the AFL is by living outside Sydney. Why the hell would he need to see inside NRL heartland to see how national it was. It isn't, at all. It has teams in 2 states, and a lepers team in Melbourne.
ahhhh
you just said he could see beyond the NRL heartland
n I said
but..he obviously can't see how poorly the Victorian game is doing ..... inside this same heartland you **** shit for brains
probably because he is based in the capital of delusion ... spazbourne
again
how can any sport be national when half of said nation ....... has no time for it
oh thats right
it can't

2 teams minimum in each of the 5 biggest states!
Lions and swans have more crowds and members than almost all NRL clubs!
Woohoo =D>
you can plonk sides where ever you like
that doesn't mean in certain parts of the country ... that they'll be popular
case in point the VFL's 4 sides in NSW & QLD
even after 30 years & some considerable success .... TV stations still prefer to put Reece Witherspoon movies on TV ahead of these sides involved in Grand Final qualifiers in NSW & QLD
I think that above... ends this debate

At least 2 teams in each mainland state, games played in Tasmania and the 2 territories.
not true.

The Swans have been the highest drawing team across all football codes in Sydney for
18 YEARS IN A ROW. If the highest drawing team in the city isn't popular, what on Earth does that make the nRL teams that draw less people to their games?

and the definition of national
by any fair measure would mean .. nationwide
& addtional terms added to this for clarity in order would be
1) popular .... & the VFL quite obviously is not popular nationwide
2) importance .....& the VFL quite obviously is not considered important nationwide
a distant 3rd would be presence ... & the VFL has this , but its null & void as a result of the above 2 facts
