This independant ANZAC appeal website describes the AFLs ANZAC day game as one of their major events.

The annual ANZAC Day AFL match played between Collingwood and Essendon at the MCG is considered the biggest AFL match outside of the finals, often drawing larger crowds than all but the Grand Final. The match holds significant importance among AFL fans and many consider it as one of the nation’s largest and most meaningful sporting events.

I wonder why they don't mention the NRLs little game? :-k

yeah.... real independant
This is on their main page:
The RSL and its volunteers provide assistance to past and present Defence Force members when in need with a range of financial and non-financial support services. You do not have to be a member of the RSL to receive assistance; you only have to be a current or former member of the Australian Defence Force, our Allies, or a dependent of either group. The money raised through the Appeals enables the RSL to financially assist members through reducing the burden of expenses such as:

Grocery shopping
Outstanding household bills
Medical and hospital expenses
The cost of mobile aids such as wheelchairs, scooters and walking frames
Household repairs and maintenance
Funeral costs
In addition, volunteers provide non-financial support to members in the form of home and hospital visits providing both psychical and emotional care and assistance.
How dare the RSL promote a game that provides them with much needed funds! [-(

AFL attendance 90k plus 1.8M ratings=1.89M

440K x 4= 1760k..........oh, poor Dave

Both codes should be flipping the bird at this. ANZAC Day in 2015 is on Saturday and the time difference makes TV coverage impossible. The right place to hold the test is at ANZ Stadium, and there shouldn't be any club games in Sydney competing with it directly.

Yeah, they "would" if they had signed a decent TV rights in the first place. But alas nothing will change for another 5 years because they went for cash per minute!

So its exactly as I said: the AFLs game has 4 times the spectators on TV and at the ground.

I wonder which game is more significant? :-k

My comments about our ANZAC day game being 4 times more important refers to games already played Dave!

Wow, having a bad day arent you!

And thanks Pies. the ANZAC day game was near 1.8M with regionals and foxtel included. Plus 90k attendance.

http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/20 ... er.default?
AFL Acting General Manager Broadcasting, Scheduling and Legal Affairs Simon Lethlean said Wednesday’s match at the MCG drew a total average audience of 1.726 million viewers nationally
Easily more than 4 times the NRL's laughable attempt.

this dickhead first of all adds a lazy 80K to the VFL's TV ratings
then says its a fair comparison in an attempt to get an audience 4 times bigger
by having the VFL's attendance , FTA .... & Pay Ratings up against the NRL's .. attendance , plus only their pay tv ratings

8-[

is there a bigger cock on these forums then marcus ?

well .. :-k
it'd be a 3 way dead heat between him , bearsy & spewie

anyway

an NRL FTA audience on ANZAC day would slay 1.4 to 1.5 Million.... plus the attendance
so 4 times that is 6 million

ah Marcus ..... you're about 4.2 Million short buddy
