You fucking imbecile, how many times do you need to be told? AFL clubs are not for profit. All that money they make goes on to become invested in their football department. If it was all about making profits you would see Collingwood and Hawthorn posting huge numbers, ones that nRL clubs even with all of their pokies machines could even dream of.
By the way if Perth were to ever have an nRL team how would they survive in WA the no-pokies state? No wonder they only lasted a few years in the 90's

Again dumbarse, the object is to spend your budget, not bank it!

the AFL payment isnt a grant. It covers costs that rightfully belong to the AFL clubs, like hawthorns AFL membership subscriptions, merchandise, TV revenue etc..
Meanwhile the Storm get their NRL grant but rely on News Ltd to kick in 13-15m a year to break even. This is because they have stuff all fans and sponsors. Once their owners lose interest theyre gone.

the object is to spend your budget
is the object to spend more then you earn like many VFL clubs do & seemingly , can't stop doing ?
VFL economics , a guide on what NOT to do
the AFL payment isnt a grant.
the NRL's isn't either then , & the money it gives its clubs rightfully belongs to them too ....
which sorta makes this point of yours
Therefore the raiders still rely on the nrl and act grants,
almost too stupid to contemplate

its one thing to spend up your budget
its entirely another to spend a lot lot more then you earn
& some VFL clubs just keep doing it
thats unsustainable & anyone with half a nouse of sense can see that

dimwit
They budget for an expected revenue. If they under-perform or experience unexpected costs theyll make a loss. If they do better than expected they make a profit. Either way they spend almost everything they expect to earn. That's what a non for profit organisation does dumbarse

As they are not for profit you will see many clubs posting small profits like the Crows this year and many clubs posting small losses. If the clubs with small losses wanted to make a profit, all they'd need to do would be to cut back a little bit on their football department spending. The Crows would be able to post huge profits in 2014 once they move to Adelaide Oval, but will more than likely invest further in their football department like Collingwood and West Coast do.
If you think Port Adelaide will die soon even though they are vital to the new Adelaide Oval and the AFL's TV rights deal, once again you're mistaken. The PAFC has existed decades longer than your poor bogans version of real rugby union.

Don't worry stewie, the Raiders may throw your mob a hand full of the lose change they find in the back of one of their multiple lounges they have scattered all over the joint.

Given their miniscule football budget they need to throw some to themselves and stop relying on the ACT government

given the ACT/NRL make up almost 50% of their revenue Id say its still a relevant point.

we'll let poort powerfailures CEO .... roam one of the many clubs we own's poker machine areas picking up dropped coins
he can then maybe scrounge enough for a basic keno entry ... then he could maybe win a million bucks
then they'd only be 5.3 million down for the year
