6 AFL clubs made a loss out of 18, and that includes 2 brand new expansion teams. All these teams are on or near the bottom so revenue was down due to poor on filed performance. This will be addressed as they improve and they get support from the AFL.

And these NRL clubs? Struggling despite success...

The sharks are debt free? Who cares! Debt isnt the issue, lack of income to pay debt is. ask millions of Australians with a mortgage if debt alone is a problem
Do you have a link to your bogus claims Xman? or are you telling porkies again. As far as i know not all AFL clubs have put out there financial statements for 2012 so your claim can only be another porkie....

Out of the 11 clubs to release the financial reports 6 have made losses and this does not included GWS, SUNS......

Total Profit/Loss:

Essendon – $12,345,536 = 400k after 12m in government grants is taken out.
Collingwood – $7,835,000*
Richmond – $3,017,742
Hawthorn – $1,288,810
Melbourne – $19,485
1 Western Bulldogs – (136,679)
2 St Kilda – ($436,818)
3 Carlton – ($639,799)
4 Geelong – ($996,000)
5 Brisbane – ($2,200,013)
6 Port Adelaide – ($2,117,071)*

You must stop telling Lies Xman...... [-X [-X
 This has been proven already. Youre the one telling lies

Operating Profit
Collingwood – $4,860,000
Richmond – $3,017,742
North Melbourne – $1,193,080
Hawthorn – $1,288,810
St Kilda – $631,135
Essendon – $401,429
Geelong – $322,000
Melbourne $77,618

Wc and Dockers always make profits, as do the crows. Sydney already announced they will make a small profit.

Operating Loss
Western Bulldogs – ($136,679)
Carlton – ($683,799)
Brisbane – ($2,513,262)
Port Adelaide – ($4,120,000)

Plus Suns and Giants

http://footybusiness.wordpress.com/gove ... l-reports/

12 out of 18 AFL clubs make profits.

You are using the wrong figure Xman.... #-o

It has to be the Total Profit/Loss column.

But say it is your column and we add GWS Suns to the picture.....

GCS, GWS - ($150,000,000) then revised up to ($220,000,000) in the first year, now who knows how much more this will rise.
AFL chief executive officer Andrew Demetriou says the new licences for a Gold Coast and western Sydney team will cost up to $150 million. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2008-07-16/a ... 50m/441130
The chief executive, Andrew Demetriou, said the code's expansion with its 17th and 18th teams would cost $220 million. Read more: http://www.smh.com.au/AFL/AFL-news/gws- ... z2Eijv5wIg
Operating Profit
Collingwood – $4,860,000

And considering the Crowds GWS and Suns have been getting and now that Issy is gone then this figure will surely rise... =D>

No, operating profit/loss indicates the years performance or viability. Total profit/loss takes into account things like stadium upgrades etc. look at Essendon. They didnt make a 12m profit! That figure includes one off funding for their new facilities.

As I showed, there are 6 teams with losses, making a likely 12 with profits, or 67%

Compare that to the NRL with 6% making a profit.

Oh and the cost of AFL expansion includes one off stadium purchases which are now assets. Much of this was saved in previous years future funding.

Nice attempt at a comeback

But if you think Essendon made a 12m profit then great!

Poor cronulla, they might have to dig into that big trust fund they have, poor them.

On the plus side, they could make up a lot in Merchandise sales seeing as plenty hate the jumpers with shit all over it.

How is this a good thing? A team with a following smaller than many a league teams will survive for everyone to laugh at

Cronulla has plenty of fans which they showed will turn up when they are going well, the problem for them though, it's way too long between being really good and entertaining and being absolutely crap.

A few decent seasons in a row would see their crowds come back, years ago Cronulla were the team that owned Saturday night footy at shark park, it was packed every game, then they started losing and they are where they are now.

They had 55-60k turn up a few seasons ago, how long since the Port Hobart Demons (aka Port Brokelaide) played in front of a home crowd that big?

In the last 7 years theyve averaged between 10 and 13k for home games :-k

They had a final this year and 24k turned out! :-k

If theyve got fans where the bloody hell are they?
