In answer to the title of this thread, clearly the NSW Government, Premier of NSW and hundreds of thousands of Sydneysiders do give a stuff.

Friday is going to be massive in the Sydney CBD. Funny how tickertape parades are only ever given to AFL teams in Sydney. :P

YOU know you're in vogue when the Premier is prepared to wait in line for 15 minutes to get an AFL footy record signed.

This is the backdrop to the Swans-fever gripping Sydney, prompting the state government to organise a street parade through the city to honour the clubs spectacularly unexpected premiership victory.

While no Sydney NRL team has ever had a premiership parade through the city, the Swans will have their second in eight years after coach John Longmire's troops pulled off a famous come-from-behind win over Hawthorn at the MCG last week.

Friday's parade through George Street to a reception at Town Hall will begin at 12.15pm.

"Saturday's was a remarkable grand final,'' NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell said.

"It was demonstrated that they were never ever going to give up and we think that that deserves, as it did in 2005, a huge opportunity for Sydneysiders to come out and to pay tribute to all those magnificent players.

"I urge all of Sydney to come out and show their strong support for the Sydney Swans. Can I also say how proud we are, in the 30th year in which the Swans relocated from Melbourne to Sydney, that they've managed to win this premiership.''

As the players' celebrations spilled over into a fourth day, Longmire said they players he has been able to reach are excited to have an opportunity to thank their fans.

"I was fortunate to speak to a few of the senior players, about an hour ago was the first time that I let them know this was going to occur and they were wrapt,'' Longmire said.

"Jude Bolton has been part of this before and he told a few of the other boys that it's one of the best memories he's ever had. There's a few who don't know about it, but I'm sure they'll get word this afternoon.''

The Swans are hopeful of another sea of red and white, like the huge turnout to their 2005 parade through the city.

A recent Roy Morgan poll showed the Swans are the No. 1 supported team in Australian sport with 1,036,000 fans.

Today's Daily Telegraph has a double spread, colour Sydney Swans premiership poster. Did the owners of your club, News Ltd do the same in Melbourne today for the Storm? Does anyone care or give a stuff in Melbourne. Clearly not it would seem.

That attitude is the biggest NRL myth going round. You know the storm had a big spread in the herald sun a few days ago. Was that pay for comment?

Thousands. Unlike the Storm's hundreds, thousands have turned out to support the Swans. Or is the Public Broadcaster also accepting bribes from the AFL for favorable coverage?

SPORTS lovers have transformed Sydney into Party Central with thousands turning out to honour the victory of the Sydney Swans over Hawthorn last weekend in a lunchtime victory parade through the city streets.

In 30 degree heat, thousands turned out to cheer on the Swans in the Grand Final parade which started just after 12.30pm and will conclude at the Town Hall.

Hats and umbrellas replaced beanies and scarves as the accessories of choice for fans who braved high heat to be up close and personal with the champion Sydney team.

The John Longmire-coached Swans beat Hawthorn by 10 points in a tense AFL grand final last Saturday.

The match was attended by 99,683 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Today is the second time the Swans have had a premiership parade following their 2005 victory.

The large numbers who cheered the Swans on today are not surprising with a recent Roy Morgan poll showing the Swans are the No. 1 supported team in Australian sport with 1,036,000 fans.

The celebrations for the Swans will culminate tonight with their club champion dinner.

The Swans have received the keys to the city after a truimphant march up George Street to the Town Hall.

The city, traditionally a NRL stronghold, has been turned red and white in honour of the teams win last weekend.

"Everywhere the Swans go they are ambassadors for this city,'' said NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell

No doubt all the fans that turned out, and even the Morgan poll staff were paid too.

If the AFL's success in Sydney is all an illusion, they should be hired to perform a show in Las Vegas, because it's a pretty bloody convincing one.
