It was quoted in the paper only a few months back.

Heres tbhe Quote

A recruiter from one club told me that 'unless they have a white parent we are not going to draft an Aboriginal player and our club would not be alone in that'.

complete hearsay from a person who was reprimanded for repeatedly making stuff up.

The AFL have the same proportion of indigenous players as the NRL.

Xman can you show us some support for that statement? Not questioning that statement (at this time) but I have never seen any reserch that has come out with that sort of finding?

It's been discussed before with evidence. I think it's in one of the racism threads. About 10% of both codes listed players are indigenous Australians

Shows that in 2011 about 11% of AFL players had an indigenous background. (see close to top right of website)

Well, as I said, since when does a company constantly review the practices of contracted company? Once they found out they acted. Cant ask for much more than that. [-(

not at all. But Nikes practices have been well known for years and people still buy there products without issue. The AFL just found out about Sherrin's practices and dropped them immediately. Id say thats something to be impressed by.

Balls are stitched using two heavy needles and wax-coated string. Child stitchers end up with chronic back injuries, septic wounds in their hands, weakened eyesight, depression and other psychological disorders.
Yep Sherrin, the official ball of the AFL...which is either a clueless organisation or an organisation which believes extortion is a means to 'get ahead'. I personally believe the AFL is both.

Fancy it taking a child getting pricked with a needle in victoria for the AFL to realise its official balls have been created for years through illegal and abusive child labour... [-X

After how many children were abused?

Seriously, the tokenistic shock and horror expressed by Demetriou and those at Sherrin is not good enough. More heads should be rolling for this, and new policies put in place to ensure this supposed oversight and/or extortion doesnt occur again. But, this wont happen, it's the AFL we're talking about, they're clueless extortionists down there.

They can't do much if they don't know. It's what they do when they know that counts. They acted appropriately like they have every time.

That's exactly right Xman  "They dont know" Why...they didnt even have a clue this extortion was occurring. For? Two years! Did i say the AFL were clueless extortionists before?

Yep nothing happening in terms of preventing this again through policy change. No we'll just receive the normal token shock and horror expressed by Demetriou as, once again, his organisation is brought into disrepute. This is good enough work for simpletons like Xman. Token gestures from the plump cashed up AFL CEO keeps him happy.

More heads should be rolling. I mean who at the AFL was assigned the role to work with sherrin? Did they know about this extortion and if not why didnt they know? If so why did it take a 10 year old victorian kid to jab himself with a needle for this to come out? What policy change might help prevent this from happening in the future? Nup all these questions just dont seem to have been explored at all. Just a stock standard tokenistic shock statement to cover the org's ass in light of its public image. [-X
