Don't you know the meaning of a sellout?

It means tickets are no longer available for sale. 3 of the four games were sellouts? Whether they all turn up is another matter.

A sellout doesn't mean a full house. It means no more tickets were for sale limiting the number of people who want to attend.

The MCG had no more tickets by Tuesday. AAMI park not long after. The eagles games are sold out virtually every week.

That's a sellout, it doesn't mean a full house. #-o

Raid it's not in free fall. A free fall is a bigger plummet than that. But it is down, and I'll give you a better reason why ours is down. A stupid finals system. The NRL was first with the 1v4, 2v3, 5v8, 6v7 final eight and we went away from it for no good reason!! Aside from those cowards at Manly who won't go anywhere but Brookvale. Especially to Allianz Stadium. Terrible transport! Been there once and never again!

I think the interstate teams traveling was the problem for the AFL. And they'll be down again this week for the same reason.

When the NRL starts selling out Home and Away and FInals games they will see that not all of the members turn up.

The MCC members are the worst.

Crows get close to sell out crowds most games and should get 45K to their game friday night.
Collingwood V WestCoast should get a crowd to the MCG numbering between 60-70K
Swans should get about 50K
Hawks should get between 60-70k

GF
100K

AFL average for the finals should be about:

60K.

The Swans prelim will be a sellout.

They played the Lions in a prelim in 03 & that was a sellout so I dont see why the same game this year wont be.

Pie I was talking about the comparison to 2011. You could be right about the crowds but how do they compare? That's what Eel was talking about and it should be confronted.

IT'S at the same stadium, but a ticket to the next week's Swans AFL preliminary final will cost twice the equivalent seat at the NRL grand final qualifier the following night.

Yep, and you thought your latest power bill was bad.

When the Swans host the winner of tomorrow night's semi-final between Collingwood and West Coast the most expensive AFL ticket ($160 platinum) is exactly double the same category NRL ticket ($80 category one).

The cheapest entry level ticket for an adult is also double the price - $70 compared to $35 when the Bulldogs face the winner of tomorrow's Rabbitohs-Raiders semi.

No excuses for the NRL not getting the bigger crowd of these two finals. Their tickets are half the price. Time to stand up NRL fans! ](*,)

Yeah your correct, I should have gone back to read some more of Raiders dribble.

Last year in week one the AFL had :
Carlton V Essendon MCG (90+)
Geelong V Hawthorn MCG if I remember correctly (70+)
Collingwood V Eagles (MCG) 60+
St Kilda V Swans (about 40 K)

All in Melbourne 3 at the MCG. The average was 65K maybe a little more. Theres only two grounds used by the AFL that hold over 65K so it is quite hard to average 65K when you have a game at AAMI 50K capacity and Paterson about 42K capacity. The Geelong V Dockers game this year was at the MCG but it was never going to get close to capacity.

2010 also had a big finals crowd with two Grand finals that year.

by about 2018. The two teams in Perth will have a nice 60K stadium (upgradable to 70K). The Adelaide clubs will have a new 55K stadium much more central to the city. It will be interesting to see what happens with AFL crowds over the next 5-10 years. The crowd averages have be restrained by small grounds some what, mostly in Perth and to a lesser extent by the Docklands stadium in Melbourne.

Weather forecast in Sydney according to the SMH 7 day forecast for next Friday night doesn't look great. Can't believe how many Swans blockbuster games this season and last have been adversely affected by terrible weather. Fingers crossed the weather forecasters have got this one wrong. Forecast in the lead up to the game looks awful too.

the swines prelim final in 2003 wasn't close to a sellout ....

it was 71K ... about 12K shy of a sellout
& again... on a sat night

even if collinsthongs make it ... on a friday night
it won't go close to selling out

if its west coke ... they'll be lucky to half fill it
