Be offended. I didn't make anything up. I can read you like a book. You called AFL predominantly Anglo-Saxon - which means Britain and Ireland only. The 51 countries that represent our great game prove at the highest level proves you wrong. You are yet to provide evidence that shows the NRL has a similar record - and you can't because they haven't.

What about the welsh and scottish TLPG? Dont leave them out as Anglo can refer to them also. 51 countries represented means jack diddly when you only have 1 or so players coming from each of these countries and even they are either second generation+ anglo aussies, or anglo south african, or anglo elsewhere like what you've listed TLPG. It means jack diddly. My pictures tell the real story as can anyone with a brain.

Oh my pictures and your lies say different my ol foe. The AFL is dominated by those of anglo background and hence lacking in diversity. One simply has to tune in on the tele or go to a match on any given weekend to see that.

Perhaps you should watch the Mangrook footy show KE. They highlight the indigenous players in the team each week. It is on at 7.30pm on ABC2 on Thursday nights. I think the AFL has about 10% of its players from indigenous backgrounds. Some of the players that look white come from Aboriginal decent. I also wouldn't say that the Game is Anglo-Saxon although there are a lot of players from that background (but that is similar to the general population). The AFL also have a lot of Greek and Italian players. There is an Italian team of the century, which is a kick arse team by the way. I personally wouldn't use the word Anglo-Saxon, I would say that it is very European dominated. We also have a few players from interesting backgrounds including Musluem, Indian, American,Sudaniese,Fijian and Irish players.

Oh yes, it really worked me up! all I had to do was ask him if he thought the NRL were any better and the thread was essentially over.

And the photos prove it without a doubt Xman, yep the thread is essentially over however you and TLPG continue on without being able to acknowledge the NRL is more diverse. It is funny.

Interesting points there pies. For your info i do often watch the marngrook footy show. I think we are in agreement that the AFL is predominantly of anglo background. I'm interested though in the numbers of players of greek and italian descent playing marngrook...although I think we had a lot of Greeks and Italians immigrate to Australia early on last century...

I'm even more interested in recent immigrants and their takeup of both codes. A good study would be to look at how many recent immigrants (i.e moved here or parents moved here in the last 30 - 40years) the AFL has in their game compared to the NRL. I would almost bet my savings on it that the NRL attracts more than double the AFL. And if I could i'd bet it against TLPG and Xman. Easy money.

You've already lost. You still haven't proven that anywhere near 51 countries are represented in the NRL. The pics you have shown are not proof of this at all. So go find a proper list that matches what we provided - or admit that you are wrong. Simple choice.

TLPG please never say "double my arse" again. It has the potential to provide quite a disturbing image to our members.

Now I'm not going to bother going and finding the data to beat your invalid "51 countries" dribble. Because I and anyone else who has a set of eyes that are neurologically directly connected to their brain, rather than their "arse", know that the NRL is far more ethincally diverse than the AFL.

Furthermore this debate belongs in another thread so do the appropriate thing TLPG and continue making a "double arse" of yourself over there.

For now I think this thread has been answered quite sufficiently. All and sundry agree that some AFL players are women bashers.
