Why only 3? Aren't their more games on RL on TV every year?
What's the missing ingredient? Oh yeah, SOO.

I watched over half the SOO match on Wednesday and I only have a mild interest. SOO in my opinion is a better option then the cooking/talent shows that the other networks show.

And this is exactly why prime time shows rate so well. People are home and are likely to watch something, even if its not their preferred choice of entertainment. Where as a Saturday afternoon game is really only watched by people who make a deliberate decision to stay home and watch TV, which ratings show is one of the least likely times of the week.

RL on its biggest stage is loved by more Australian families than marngrook.
You're not coping well with this Xman so I suggest you leave this thread, there's simply nothing you can say which will change the raw facts. Chin up though matey, the AFL is pretty good with memberships and crowds, its just that the AFL comp cant compete on the biggest stage, thats all.
Your logic is as stupid as you are!
If watching tv means you love something then a heck of a lot of people love cooking, singing, the news etc etc.

a lot of people do love cooking singing and the news you idiot. And you have the audacity to claim my logic is stupid
Hilarious Xman, your argument is a complete freakshow, a circus act worth marvelling and laughing at. You're something special.
However the facts remain, more Australian families sit down and love watching RL on its biggest stage than marngrook on its biggest stage. That's just the facts buddyo

Omg you're a fool. I watch heaps of shows for no other reason than there is nothing better on. Do I "love" the content of these shows? Hardly!
But according to you everyone who watches a show loves it!

Ahhh and herein lies the answer. Xman
watch(es) heaps of shows for no other reason that there is nothing better on

Says it all really

You disgusting slob.
There's some out there but I would hope the majority of australian families have better things to do with their time than "watching heaps of shows for no bloody reason". They watch them because they enjoy and love the content, that's why. X'man, you and you're shameful argument disgust me!

That's the point you tool. People are home in the evening and get in the habit of watching something on TV, no matter how entertaining they find it. This doesn't happen on Saturday afternoon because people tend to plan their activities during daylight hours on a day they have time off.

I'm sorry Xman but 'people' arent like you. They watch what they find entertaining, they use their television for enjoyment purposes. You sir, you arent like normal people because...well just read my signature

The ratings prove it!
Prime time for both sports rates far higher at night than it does during the day! Why? Could it be that those same people who find a sport boring during the day suddenly think its entertaining at night?
Could it be that they have other things planned during the day, like sport, or chores, or hobbies, and would like to relax during the evening and watch TV no matter how much they like it the content?
This is how TV ratings work. This is why prime time rates higher. People are home in the evening and wish to relax in front of the TV.
My example of the Australian open tennis final is perfect. Since moving to prime time it's been one of the best rating show each year. Yet when it was scheduled on Sunday afternoon it rated outside the top 20. So do tennis fans love it now because it's on in the evening, and not love it in the afternoon?

No. There are more people home in the evening who will channel surf and then chose the tennis as more entertaining than other programs on offer, no matter how much they love tennis!

Dear God, you are a lost puppet arent you.
Seriously, do you really believe people flock in their millions to watch what they find "boring", because that's what you've stated

You idiot. People watch it because they love it. They watch for their veiwing pleasure. I know in your robotic world where you'll tune in to shows because there's nothing better on that it may seem like people are morons like yourself, but they're not. They have more free will than you and they watch because they want to be entertained. And its clear to see that on its biggest stage more Australian fans love watching RL than the AFL GF. That's just the facts buddyo. Now I know you've got the tv on in the background, why not tune in to something you dont like, pronto!

No. A core group love it. And for big games like the GFs and SOO they go out of their way to watch it. But there are also many occasional watchers that do not love it, but have a passing interest. If this wasn't the case every NrL game would rate this well. Add to that the state v state scenario soo brings which adds more very infrequent rl viewers. If this wasn't the case SOO wouldn't rate so much better than the NRL GF.

King-Eliagh wrote:The NRL rates very well on the television because australian families love to sit down and watch it. Last year more Australian families sat down to watch nrl than the AFL comp. And you must consider there's many teams playing each weekend Xman. Many teams. Of course they're not all going down to sit down every match.
SOO draws us all in as its RL on its greatest stage, and we love it. Just like the AFL GF, all AFL supporters watch the GF, its just less than the origin,
wrong. AFL almost always outrates RL including SOO each year. The highest rating game of any code is the 2005 AFL GF. The second is the 2006 AFL GF

if the swans, crows or swans make this years final it may happen again this year.
Wrong. I know people who watch SOO. Do they love league? No. They are interested in which state wins because of the rivalry of state v state. You can't speak for other people moron.

Nope, Raiderdave summed AFL tv audiences vs nrl last year and the nrl shat it in. I know people who watch the AFL gf for the fun of it. And your argument is?
Your the one speaking for millions. I'm simply stating the facts, more aussie fams sit down in front of their box, together with beer chippies and other goodies, to just love watching SOO than the AFL Gf. Them's the facts Xman. And dont you just hate it!
