Don't for one minute believe anything Gould says to the contrary. This is the same bloke who with Michael Searle, told everyone the Titans were not in talks with the PNG government about selling games off. Remember that?
So, who will the Panthers merge with. I suspect the struggling Parramatta Eels. Makes sense don't you agree?
Western Sydney Panthers? Gould's taking no chances
May 18, 2012
Penrith supremo Phil Gould said the club had lodged a trademark application for ''Western Sydney Panthers'' as a ''safeguard'' for the future and has no plans to change its name. Gould revealed the club had also registered other names, including West Panthers, Western Panthers, and New West Panthers.
The move ensures the club could use those names if they ever decided to expand beyond Penrith or merge with another Sydney club

Look at beassie post TLPG, he is saying with the next 5 years we will merge and he is using material from the superleague wars to justify his opinion. No one is denying that these comments were made but you cant put 1997 comments in a post about 2012 and call it proof that phil gould is getting the panthers ready for a merger. If that was the case this would the the slowest merger in the history of sports....

As I said, trademarks are only valid for three years so it has to be acted on before that time is up. Expansion?? They've already expanded as far as they can so it's not that. So it HAS to be a merger!
Four trademarks IIRC cost $600 in total. That might not seem much, but personally I wouldn't be wasting even that on such a massive gamble - unless there are some solid plans for a merger in place already!!

How many times do i have to tell these idiots, Parramatta is the second biggest city in NSW after Sydney, there is no need to merge a city of that size with any other team. And if there was ever going to be a merger with Parramatta i am afraid it would turn out like St George Illawarra merger, it would be a total takeover.
It's not as if Parramatta haven't considered a merger with Penrith in the past. Both clubs have form.
Talk about clutching at straws, this muppet pulls up wiki and pulls our a paragraph from the superleague wars, fuken how pathetic are you beassie, first you reneg on a deal with raiders showing what sorta charecter you are. Then you do this, desperate much?

Oi dumbo, I was just pointing out that your beloved Eels have already considered a merger in the past. With their shit form and shit crowds along with Penrith, it wont be long before merger talks are back on the table. Mark my words on that sunshine.

That's ofcourse if Xman doesnt decide to lock the thread to save you both from the humiliation... which history and Xman's maternalistic teet offering behaviour towards you pathetic weeners suggests will happen so i guess everythings gunna be allllllriiiight then.

Our home crowd average is 16384 for last place side, dont you see how silly you look beassie. Parramatta will not be merging anytime soon mate, when we are constant top of the table like Melbourne you will see a crowd average of 20+ thousand, and thats our stadiums capacity.
The demons will be merging before Parramatta mark my words Beassie....

No, Gould is the one looking silly for buying the trademarks to begin with. Parramatta isn't the issue. Penrith is the issue.

Wow that is the best post from you yet TPLG im shocked...

You say penrith is the issue and you are correct. Now tell that to beassie, he seems to think that Parra are going to merge with penrith becuase Gus has reserved a name.

And it makes sense, because Parramatta is the closest club to Penrith.

Logical isn't it. Our throwball friends struggle with logic as you can tell.
