Its all elementary dear cos. Xman cant admit that this historic momentous game which was promoted for 2 years was clearly irrelevant to more than 95% of sydney siders. Its simply maths and undeniably true. But he just cant admit it. Thus he illustrates his character as I have described. What a pathetic weak man our Xman is. Pathetic and weak.

What I will admit is that it was 3 times more significant by attendance measures than the NRL game played the night before in the same region. It was about 1/3rd as significant compared to the same NRL game to the people of Sydney by TV measures.

Lamo Xman, plain old lamo.

Parra vs Penrith was not a match which had been promoted for two years as a histroic momentous occasion. When will you learn, you just cant compare apples with oranges on this one matey. What we do know though, is that the vast vast majority of sydney siders felt the game was not a momentous, historic occasion. They simply had better things to do on their saturday night. There's your reality check, right there. Its right in front of that penis you have as a nose. :o

So the people of Sydney did not know parra v penrith game was being played on Friday live at 7.30pm? I find that very hard to believe! [-X

The fact remains 3 times more people chose to attend the GWS v swans game despite the likelihood of a very one sided game.

The fact remains parra penrith was not promoted as a momentus historic occasion simply because, it was not. GWS vs Sydney should have been but it simply, was not. Beaussie and I'll admit, I also, felt way back in december last year that the game would be a sellout or close to. I thought atleast 60k. But alas the game wasnt viewed as a momentous historic occasion by the masses. I'm disappointed too Xman but I'll tell you now, it helps ease the pain when you face the truth. The fact remains this event should have been a momentous occasion where sydneysiders flocked to the game and at least filled 3/5ths of the stadium which was booked. The truth is, they didnt, and a relatively small number bothered to take the time to watch the match on the box. The truth is our Raiderdave has been spot on with his predictions from day one. The time has come and passed now and Demetriou and his cronies all anticipated a fantastic beginning. Perhaps they should have listened to Raiderdave and instead held the game at the SCG and filled it. The atmosphere would have been electric in there for this game. Opportunity well and truly lost.

The AFL sure are making poor decisions of late.

Well I can't help it if you are a complete goose! #-o

The AFL may have introduced a new team into a foreign market but this does not instantly guarantee a swag of instant new fans, nor should it. This will take time. People, on mass, will not suddenly open their eyes and fall in love with a new team and attend their first game. Look at the storm. After 14 years of success they struggle to get a regular crowd above 12k. How was it going to happen that a new AFL team on week one was instantly going to draw 30k? #-o

The fact also remains that this was a GWS home game. This means that many Swans supporters would not have attended because it would have been an extra cost that was not covered by their membership.

TV audience is the same. People either were interested or they weren't. Given the game was on 7 mate and foxtel the ratings were well above last years ratings for the swans alone.

If you were sucked in by the hype that's your issue. Most were not. They are aware of the new team and some have jumped on board, but most will join as the team gains the respect and interest of the peopl and truly becomes THEIR own team. This will never happen on week 1.

Yes wise words indeed Xman. I was a bit sucked in by the hype. And clearly so was Beaussie. And disturbingly Andrew Ieatmpoo and his phonies down at AFL HQ also seem to have been completely under the illusion that this would be a smash hit on day one. Otherwise they wouldnt have booked the biggest stadium in town for it to not even be half filled. Its quite sad the opportunity that was lost because of these idiots at AFL HQ. We, as Talking Footy members should be doing something about this and writing a signed letter of disgust to Andrew Dipitinmepoo and his phonies at AFL HQ. :x

Those guys have ruined this historic moment and possibly irreparably ruined the GWS football club.

AD never said the GWS would be a smash from day 1.
Demetriou described the establishment of GWS as ''a massive challenge'' and the code's expansion as the AFL's top priority this year, one that will cost it $220 million. ''It's not going to be an easy year,'' he said, ''and we could see a let-down with the Gold Coast after a pretty successful start in 2011

Comedy is one of the most effective mediums in getting across absurd reality cos lettuce. You should get out to a show sometime. Now the point is the AFL lost a magnificent opportunity to kick this season, the GWS giants and the city of sydney off to a great start by not playing the game at the SCG. A shocking mistake and one we all should not forget or let happen again. [-X
