All ratings fell in NZ last year because SKY upgraded their SKY boxes and it wasn't catching all the ratings.

I'll find the article from around june july last year.

And why wouldn't sky sports downplay what they have to pay?

Hmmm, on other thoughts, I'll bookmark this thread and bump it after the first round of the NRL and you can compare the Warriors yourself to the S15 games that will have already been played with no opposition.

700,000+ watched the NRL GF live last year in NZ on Pay TV, of that 700k, just under 150k watched a late night replay on FTA TV that started after 10pm.
