Well it can't be unknown in the us if they mention it regularly when referring to a number of punters in their biggest sport, can it.

Russell Crowe, do you reckon he mentions South Sydney ever on shows like Jay Lenno, The Late Late Show, The Today Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The View, The Late Show with David Letterman, The O'Reilly Factor, Geraldo, The Oprah Winfrey Show and the various news shows plus entertainment shows like E and TMZ and so on?
How about all the celebs he's taken to games or given merchandise to?

Prime Minister Gillard presented President Obama with an AFL football as a gift when they gathered in the Oval office for talks
I think this guys gets a bit of media attention.
Also, i was answering your claim that the AFL is unknown overseas. I took pity on you by not taking it to the BS file. I don't like to slaughter wounded small pathetic animals.

In my experiences overseas rl is never mentioned. Most people have at least heard of RU.
AR was once big on North American pay TV IMO . A lot of Canadaians and Americans have heard of AR even some of popular teams.Sydney is well known from early days when it was the only AFL on Sunday. Nobody I knew had heard of rl let alone name a team.
Then anedotal evidence means ziltch.
I'll remove the "IMO" when I get the link.

Why would they need exhibition games dumbarse, they have 2 comps of their own and have qualified for the 2013 RLWC.
But if you must know, they had Australia play over there twice, NZ once, a SOO game, South Sydney vs Leeds, Wigan vs Warrington, Salford vs Leeds and a couple of other games.
