From the inner west and the east the number of thoroughfares are limited to the CBD as I said. Now add a tram to those thoroughfares and you'll get an even bigger nightmare!
Why would you drive your car into Sydney CBD ?

Because the trains are unreliable.

Beaussie the members and ladies stands look lovely at the SCG if you ask me. Keeping some tradition about the place is a good thing. On the redevelopment though, yep its a load of money for only a little additional seating. I heard people of adelaide were pretty p'd off about not getting their stadium redone, which would have cost less and gained many more seats...Julia's government went with sydney though...

On trams I agree with TLPG here, trams would be superb but is Sydney going to let it happen? I'd be all for it but know there'd be many who'd prefer things the same with buses and cars polluting the place to billio.

I agree.
The reason why the seating is going up from 45k to 48k is most probably due to legislation that's says no stadium can be built in competition with Homebush above 48k.

Was that referring to just Olympic Stadium, Cos? Or were they included the Showgrounds in that as well?

It's in the contract for the Olympic stadium to minimise competition.
It has an expiry date but not for a long time.
It was in article about expanding the SFS to 60k but legislation would be needed to change the current legislation and
the design for expanding the SFS is over the ends which isn't much chop.
I also remember reading something about it when the the last consortium took over.
