I said NRL's 3 biggest games ( well 3 that were shown at a decent time anyway ) got 880K in Melbourne

is that more then singletballs 3 biggest in Sydney or not ?

& my take on interest is this
if you won't even push a button on a remote .. thats in your friggin hand .. if you don't think a sport is worth doing that
then you're not real interested are you ?
cough *** AFL in Sydney *** cough

beaussie started the thread
looks like he's come up with a pumpkin ... again
What games were they then?

the GF .. of course , Storms prelim Final .. & the other Storm final
Fascinating!

nRL had a number of advantages! The storm and warriors made a prelim. The warriors made the GF. The storm v warriors game wasn't shown against another sport. The swans finals were shown against the NRL in Sydney. The swans only made the semis. Melbourne has a high kiwi population

the Swans played in 2 finals too .. the Storms were up against the AFL in Melb
so no advantage at all

straight up
both sides had 2 finals each in very similar circumstances

oh well except if you exclude the fact that the Storm hardly ever get on FTA ... ever
so no culture of watching them on it exists in Melbourne

& the Swans have been on prime time in Sydney for 30 years
fair fight otherwise

Storm were favouties for the premiership, at least for the majority of the year, no one in their right mind gave the Swans a snowflakes chance in hell at going all the way, if they'd made the prelim they would've been destroyed let alone the final.
The NRL can't keep the Storm up the top for ever, once they drop down a bit the ratings/crowds will too, when they finish bottom 4 a 6k NRL crowd will look like a blockbuster next to the storm games, the ratings will go the same way.

Enjoy the pre season.
Image
so what
the Swans made it didn't they .. but bombed in the ratings anyway like they had done all year .. like they've done for the past 5 years ... they are just a massive... meh :? .. these days
Sydneysiders ... just don't care anymore about them
& GWS ... well I fear the ratings this lot will produce could be stuff of legend
.. seriously they may not register for some games .. you need at least 1000 veiwers to get a start in the ratings
they may miss out on occasion 8-[

the NRL have not assisted the storm in any way shape or form in their success
if they did , they'd of hidden the salary cap scandal instead of nearly closing the joint down & dismantling their roster.. something they AFL would of not had second thoughts about doing if the Swans .. or Lions had been caught doing the same thing
the NRL afterall has some integrity

the AFL ... has none

but the Storm to their credit with a vastly weakened list bounced back
their spine is incredible ... Slater ... Cronk & Smith are marvels ... amongst the finest footballers of any code in the land
the Storms development & recruitment is probably the best in the NRL
don't hold yr breath waiting for them to slide down the ladder

Hilarious isn't it. This thread was about comparing membership numbers. Clearly they've thrown the towel in on this debate and resorted to the failed tv ratings debate. The Swans are killing the Storm when it comes to membership numbers.

But the cumulative ratings for the Swans in Sydney far outweigh the cumulative ratings for the Storm in Melbourne, or do we only use 'cumulative ratings' when they suit you? FTR, Sky raceday 'cumulative ratings' far outweigh the spring carnival cumulative ratings, see how decieving 'cumulative ratings' can be?
ha ha ha

storm shown 6 times in Melbourne on FTA before midnight in 2011
the Swans shown 24 times ... in prime time in Sydney

& funnily enough .... the Swans still didn't win the cumulative ratings by much anyway ............. 8-[

the average is a good indicator though too

6 Storm games ... about 500K veiwers in Melb for those games ... average 85K
24 Swans games .... their average in Sydney .... 55K

nuff said

A bit like the AFL ratings being compared to SOO/Tests/Toyota cup etc, Eh?
why ?
you wanna put on some rep games ..... be our guests

8-[ ...... oh wait

& if its the BS line you tried on in LU
about the number of games

they are almost Identical in number ....

AFL had 187 club games
9 Finals
& about 20 odd NAB games ( although some were that tri game short version BS ) .. so we'll say 16 games

thats 212 games .. for the AFL's 120 Million cumulative TV vewier numbers in 2011

Rugby League had

192 NRL club games
9 Finals
3 origins
2 tests
1 All Stars games
1 City V Country
1 Charity Shield

thats 209 games

we had 52 Toyota cup games televised ... they average about 30K a telecast on Fox
lets remove this 1.6 Million veiwers from the equation shall we

130.4 Million cumulative NRL veiwers are left

my my
done on average ... done on cumulative .....

just done really .... aren't yus

Don't be surprised if it happens this year in the AFL.
