RL has sold out the grounds it has played at, can't do any better when it fits no more.
They get Live RL on Friday nights, they get the NRL footy show on first before the AFL footy show, they get all the sunday RL stuff.
When 9 had the rights to both codes, AFL was shown first, the people complained and the AFL was put back to behind RL, if AFL was so much bigger and rated better, why would you put a lower rating sport on in place of the supposedly bigger one?

Why would RL be bigger when participation rates for AR are so much higher?

And yet Super Rugby holds the record for highest crowd at the rectangular stadium in Darwin.

We all know that's BS. Packer and 9 execs were just bitter about the AFL tv rights negotiations. Doesn't matter now anyway as the AFL is show live in Darwin on Southern Cross (Channel 7). No doubt the AFL smashes the NRL in the tv ratings there too.

The AFL still holds the record for the biggest football crowd in the NT. The people have spoken.

And there have been more AFL games played in Darwin than NRL this century. In fact I'll bet there have been no NRL games in Darwin at all this century. What does that say?
