You need to factor in the Lions ladder position of 2010 though, 20k for last season was a good effort considering.

it continues to head south ... they were at 29K a few years back & weren't all that good then either
if they don't improve their on field performances ... hard to do whilst the AFL gives all the draft preferences to the Thuns & GWS
watch it drop to below 15K in a few years

But the reality is that the figures the Broncos use are fake. They count Leagues Club memberships that have the RL option attached.

RL clubs have only started pushing memberships in the last three years and in that time the Broncos have gone from 11,000 to 16,000. Increasing each year even though they had their worst season on field in 2010. The Broncos have room to grow with an average crowd of 34,000 and only 16,000 members while the Lions lost 8k members with the inclusion of the suns this season.

As for privately owned vs community clubs, the Knights couldn't be more happy with the switch from community to private. Record crowds and members.

They Also went from tenth to 3rd last year. No wonder the memberships went up.

Really, let's be honest. They represent 2million people! So 16k or 0.008% of the city are members! Oh dear.

Imagine if collingwood, who represent 1/9th of 4 million, had only 0.008% members. That'd be only 3,555 members. That's almost NRL levels . They actually have 70,000 or 15.8% preresentation!

Funny, they had a bigger average last year when they came 10th.
