AFL outrates the NRL week after week, season after season. That is an undisputed fact and why the AFL commands more than double the amount of tv dollars the NRL can attract. That's a fact.

no

AFL gets beaten almost every week by the NRL

Rugby League easily beats Aust Rules

this will result in the NRL certainly getting as much as giggleball with their next TV deal
possibly more
as it is the most watched sport in the country

Regioinal ratings are not available for all games in VIC, SA, TAS, WA, NT and ACT. That's why everyone in the industry doesn't look to them when negotiating tv deals. Get in the real world will ya for crying out loud.

ah no
most of regional SA & WA are covered in the Metro ratings for Perth & Adelaide , whats left is not worth mentioning
VIC & TAS are available
NT wouldn't amount to a hill of beans

ACT is part of SNSW

really its the fact that flogball regional ratings never make the ratings radar ... , it just can't get a jersey ( or singlet as it were  )
its watched by so few .... so they probably would be hard to find yes

but the NRL never fails to make the published top 40 for regional ratings
does it beaussie ?

a preverbial juggernaut

It's like talking to a brick wall with you. I'll say it again... those in the industry who negotiate tv deals do not look to regional tv ratings based on the fact that most parts of Australia aren't counted. That's why tv deals are negotiated with the tv networks and buyers in the capital cities.

Raiderdave, there are enough people living in regional South Australia and regional Western Australia to make a difference. So no, those areas are not covered by metropolitan ratings. Beaussie is correct. The only ratings that matter to the corporates are the ratings in metropolitan areas like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

the NRL rights of 2013 onward will put to rest this " fantasy " of yours
our heartland is counted
it delivers massive ratings to networks & merchants
be prepared to be gobb smacked when our rights are done

your life is going to be hell for months after ...............

You are a deluding fool, Raiderdave. RL ratings in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth will cause sponsors to curb their enthusiasm.

Ratings in Sydney & Brisbane for AFL didn't do this for flogball
it has ZIP to do with it

its what ratings can be attracted in the 2 codes heartlands

RL gets more in NSW/ACT & QLD
then singletball does in VIC , WA , SA ... & TAS

K

According to this website, AFL is rating better in Sydney and Brisbane than the NRL is in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. So it has plenty to do with it.

Foxtel have already stated they view Rugby League as a downmarket product compared to the jewel in the crown of Australian sports broadcasting the AFL.

Meanwhile Channel 9 and 10 are broke with Channel 7 committed to the AFL for the next 5 years. Good luck NRL.

AFL is shown regularly in primetime in Sydney & Brisbane
NRL is not in Melbourne

If people truly loved it they would watch no matter what time it's on. NRL show in prime time in Melbourne does not rate as well as AFL does in Sydney.
